House of Floyd! Great Cover Band!
by DJDave on 2/21/11Tractor Tavern - SeattleThis band really deserves a bigger venue than the Tractor Tavern.....that's NOT a negative on the Tractor Tavern. The Tractor Tavern is a great place to see a band. It was my first time there and the up close atmosphere to the band as they played was an experience I treasured. I just think this is a band that deserves a bigger place, especially when I learned they had difficulty putting on some of their visual show in such a small venue. This is a California based band that came to Seattle for the first time (thank you House of Floyd for coming to let us see you!). I am hoping they got such a great reception from us that they will be willing to come back and play again! I sat so close to they keyboardist he could have reached out and touched me. He was great on keyboards! Keyboards give bands that "70s" sound I like so much and he did it so well and also sang well and clear. I got to meet one of the female back up vocalists before they started. She came out to greet her cousin who also attended the show. She was a very welcoming person and I liked her instantly. She sang back ups throughout the show but her big moment came in "The Great Gig In the Sky" when she belted out a fantastic solo! I loved it! The Bass guitarist and the lead guitarist had nice renditions of the vocals they sang but I would have preferred that their voices were mixed to stand out more rather than blend in. It was more difficult to hear their voices over the band. I do not know if that was the choice of the band or a fault of the sound/mixer board tech. People who attended the show afterwards were heard raving about the pre-Dark Side songs (old school?) they performed. For these it was more of a learning experience for me because I am a Dark Side/The Wall lover and I thank the band for so much music history of the band Pink Floyd. This is a band that loves the Music of Pink Floyd and IS skilled enough to really deliver great renditions of these songs we know so well. I HAD A GREAT TIME!!!! Some others talked about an AussiFloyd cover band but I have never heard them. I recommend this band to all Pink Floyd lovers. BTW... I just saw Roger Waters "The Wall" in December 2010 concert. I'm in Pink Floyd heaven right now!
