    Uncomfortable

by tim on 9/24/19Orpheum Theatre - Boston

The Orpheum is very uncomfortable. The seating is like a stress position. The sound quality was absolutely awful. The performance was very good, but it was very difficult to enjoy.

Overhang not noted at time of sale

    by wyatt80 on 9/23/19Orpheum Theatre - Boston

Our seats (row Y in the orchestra section) came with an overhang such that the top part of the screen was not visible. That is a significant problem when you are paying to see a film. There was no warning that the seats presented an obstructed view. Inexcusable!

    Amazing Performance

by delink on 9/23/19Orpheum Theatre - Boston

The venue, the sound, the players, everything was perfect for this. I was spellbound for the entire event, which is what I remember most about it. However, before things started, the performance was delayed by half an hour because of the slow security lines. This is an unacceptable failure of logistics on the part of the facility, and they need to determine how to solve that. It was the only stain on an otherwise remarkable event.

    Philip Glass Ensemble: Pure Virtuosity

by SLCarlson on 10/31/18Town Hall - New York

My daughter said she got the chills when Philip Glass came on stage because she was awed to be in the same place as the great composer. When the sound of his music filled the room, we were in awe of the Ensemble's skill and stamina as well as in their artistry. The Ensemble came out for three curtain calls. There were gray-haired ladies around us howling for him (which is why we love New York so much). Each time, these amazing and humble musicians returned to us for another bow, and my daughter had the chills again. Philip Glass, your music has changed our lives. What a night.

A classic in a new light

by RTF37 on 4/23/17Town Hall - New York

When Philip Glass first scored Cocteau's La Belle Et La Bete in 1994, it was shown briefly at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with much success. It's been over 20 years since that event. We have an older, wiser Glass who was interviewed by the film maker and Glass collaborator Errol Morris prior to the screening. This was an informative conversation and typically filled with pithy minimalistic revelry. A quaint introduction to what would follow. The film was accompanied by live musicians and singers viewing the film as a semi opera, with the audience privy to subtitles to follow along the familiar plot lines. This was a truly effective and moving experience with moments of sheer hypnotic beauty both in the new score and classic film. If the opportunity does arise, don't hesitate to purchase a ticket.
