    Opole, The Philharmonic of Poland

by Stasiu on 2/14/11Ferguson Center for the Arts Concert Hall - Newport News

My wife and I both remarked that this was the best orchestra we have heard. Original, dynamic, full of energy, perfect timing, humor. Very talented group of musicans on a demanding US concert tour.

Wonderful performance by the Philharmonic of Poland! The orchestra treated us to 3 encores. I hope they return to this area again.

    Philharmonic of Poland - 5 stars !!

by Jofort on 2/2/11Daytona Beach Peabody Auditorium - Daytona Beach

The selections played were wonderful and beautifully executed. The featured pianist was not the one originally advertised, but was fantastic! Both the soloist and the orchestra even played encores!! (very rare for American orchestras). It was a wonderfully delightful event from beginning to end!

    Polish Philharmonic Symphony worth seeing

by OccasionalReviewer on 2/1/11Daytona Beach Peabody Auditorium - Daytona Beach

I liked the 2nd half of the show best. The Chopin selections were "darker" & more somber than I generally think of for this composer. The Beethoven selections were more familiar, more upbeat, & more fun to watch. ... The conductor was amusing & animated. The orchestra was talented. Nice afternoon.

    Needs better Percussions!

by FromOrlandoFL on 2/1/11Daytona Beach Peabody Auditorium - Daytona Beach

I am a big fan of Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart music. I came to Baytona Beach to hear some great combo of the evergreen compositions (Beethoven Symphony 5, Chopin Concerto 1 etc). But except Mozart, other two did not satisfy me. One of the reasons was probably Poland Philharmonic had a small set of performers. Hence, there was a lack of prcussions. Second sound system at the Daytona Beach Peabody Auditorium was not great one. As a result, Chopin and Beethoven performances were not effective. And may conductor should think of this issue. Especially, if you are performing Beethoven Symphony 5, you need to have very high pitch of percussions. Otherwise movement 1 and 3 will not carry the effect needed (which was the case at this theatre). The band played them well though, there was no technical mistake from their side. Even the pianist was great, his solo-piano performance was the extremely nice. Also, conductor presented two additional pieces afterwards, that was very nice!! So, except the low percussino instruments and medium sound quality, I enjoyed the Polad Philharmonic.
