    Atmosphère galore

by GayleB on 11/2/23Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Loved our visit to the Alabama. Thought the organ player’s entrance was a great way to set the stage. I won’t give it away in the hopeful event this becomes a tradition.

    Still holds up

    by batter82 on 11/2/23Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

We had a great time at the silent film version of Phantom. It's always a pleasure to be in the gorgeous Alabama Theatre and the mood of it was a great venue for this old horror film. The film itself was surprisingly still a thriller even in black and white with no talking. The organist accompanied the film with the original score and did a fantastic job. We would definitely go again.

    Best Showing in 40-Something Years

by DetailLady on 11/2/23Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Organist Tom Helms has created his own score for the silent "Phantom", and he adjusts it every year, to make it fit the mood of every scene. This year was the best accompaniment I have ever watched--and I've been there almost every year. (I'm one of the original Alabama Theatre volunteers.) The film is a classic story, never gets old, and the accompaniment can make or break the showing. Several people were heard to say afterward, "he really played the entire time? I forgot he was there!"Which is exactly what good accompaniment is.

    Movie event

by Jodi vann on 11/1/23Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

This is an event that I look forward to each year. We love the historic movie and the music of the mighty Wurlitzer is spellbinding. The organist is the greatest and it is difficult to imagine how anyone could have the concentration to play the music in sync with the movie for that amount of time

    Great!

by MJ on 11/1/23Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

This was my first silent movie, and it was excellent! Of course, the organ was the icing on the cake!

    A comedy surprise.

by Kittyk on 11/1/23Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Did not expect to love this silent movie so much. And the organ made it ten times better. The live performers were a hoot.

Phantom of the Opera Silent Movie was a Great experienced. The organist was amazing. The theatre rounded a great night as a total return to the days when theaters were beautiful.
