    Peter Asher Live

    by Scottso Aficionado on 3/16/23

Last night 3/15/2023 at Carnegie Hall NYC marked the 4th time I have seen Peter Asher perform live. Each time has been a unique experience as he always changes his musician guests who join him lending their hits music to the act and he always has the best musicians in his band. Last night at City Winery’s owner Michael Dorfs benefit production of The Music of Paul McCartney a star studded show was no exception. Peter Asher teamed with the impeccable Lyle Lovett for a beautiful rendition of “ World Without Love” and as he always does, spun his wonderful tale of the origins of the song. His shows are not just an evening of great music but Mr Asher is one of the finest story tellers in the business constantly taking the audience with him on a very vivid visual walk through his storied past that winds its way through the very history of rock and pop to the early Sixties Brit Pop. He is warm sincere and authentic and a show that cannot be missed!

To be a fly on the wall back then

by CL Johnson on 3/15/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

Love it! Great stories of his music career & all the great musicians he knew & worked with. His back up band & singers were really good. Bonus, his piano player was from Badfinger, and he sang as well… The closer to the stage the better.

    Memory lane

by Jan on 3/15/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

This was one of the most fun shows I've ever seen! Peter was absolutely delightful and has such a huge trove of knowledge about almost every musician in the business. I loved the pictures on the screen (I only wish I had a better seat so I could have fully seen the screen), and the live music was fantastic! I would like to see him again if he comes back this way. What a wonderful show!

    Peter Asher @ Jimmy Jazz

by TC on 3/15/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

Very entertaining and well coordinated. Peter's story telling synched perfectly with live numbers and the multi-media presentation. The sound system is excellent and the venue has a very cool vibe. The obstructed view seats obscure the stage almost entirely. The large screen TV's could be replaced with larger to offset the lack of view of the stage for these seats. Overall, very enjoyable.

One of the top three shows I’ve ever seen…

by DaveP on 3/15/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

Had no expectations going in - we recently saw Rodney Crowell do a similar kind of show where he played some songs and then spoke about some of the stories that go along with the writing of those sons. Peter absolutely blew us away - his stories - the memorabilia he has - the songs - the entire show was fabulous beyond description!!

    Peter Asher

by Ramona on 3/15/23Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club - Portsmouth

Peter Asher’s show brought back lots of great memories. If you’re a fan of 60’s or 70’s music you surely will enjoy hearing about his role during that era and singing along with him and his musicians to some of the great songs of those decades. Quite an entertainer! Catch his show if you can!

    great show

by chas on 2/28/20Birchmere - Alexandria

What a great idea combining the two groups and songs. Both of a similar genre and era. Listening to the old songs, hearing the stories they shared and the old video clips made for a great overall experience.

Peter and Jeremy at the Birchmer

by Shell on 2/28/20Birchmere - Alexandria

Peter and Jeremy delivered the goods brilliantly. Peter Asher is of huge importance to the major forces in pop and rock and roll. Amazing producer and writer, and he can sing and play a wide variety of songs and styles. Together with their piano player, they put on a great show and they include the audience in a fun way. The food options and choices at the Birchmere have gone downhill, but sadly I used to enjoy the food there, and the prices were fair. The last two times I have attended shows there, the food and drinks were over priced. I ordered the fish and chips...the fish was good, but the french fries were soggy and tough (and tasted like they were thrown into the deep fryer with the fish ), and the cole slaw was dry and chewy, instead of creamy. I think The Birchmere atmosphere, over- priced drinks, and inflated prices on merch are disappointing. The Rams Head in Annapolis is far nicer, and the better deal.. Too bad for the Birchmere.

    Peter and Jeremy

by Bill on 2/28/20Birchmere - Alexandria

Lots of interesting stories and film clips of their younger years. They sounded good when singing. I wish they had sung more and talked less during their two hour concert. The Birchmere is a great venue as it is small and every seat has a good view of the stage.

    Too Much Talk

by Invasion Fan on 2/28/20Birchmere - Alexandria

Surprisingly, we ended up disappointed. While their singing is fine when they sing, and they both are a treasure chest of interesting stories, Peter let his ego get the best of him and went way too far. He wouldn't stop talking throughout the show about seemingly everything he has done and everyone he has known in his whole life. In the first 20 minutes of the show, they only sang two songs! After their finale of "World Without Love," they left the stage, came back, and he talked for about 10 more minutes before they sang one more song. Frustrating, because it should be and could be a great show.
