About

PAUL THORN BAND IN CONCERT:

Blues rocker Paul Thorn proved his mettle opening for big names like Huey Lewis & the News and Jeff Beck, and he's firmly established his star power now that he's headlining the show. Thorn has assembled a talented and vibrant group of musicians for the Paul Thorn Band, and together they tear through irreverent favorites like "Pimps and Preachers" and "What the Hell Is Goin' On" with a party-starting energy that always gets fans rocking. From the first guitar riff to the last cymbal crash, these guys have a blast on stage, and ticket buyers lucky enough to catch them live will experience the fun firsthand.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Wisconsin-born, Mississippi-raised Paul Thorn was a professional boxer before music became his main gig. After winning several titles and fighting a nationally-televised match against a former world champion, Thorn hung up the gloves in favor of a factory job and a hobby as a musician. After several years of playing local gigs he was discovered by Miles Copeland, brother of The Police drummer Stuart Copeland, and soon after he signed a deal with A&M Records. He made his album debut on the label in 1997 with Hammer and Nail, following up with Ain't Love Strange in 1999 and Mission Temple Fireworks Stand in 2002. His potent rock sound and electric showmanship landed him on tour with acts like Toby Keith and Sting, and his animated performances on the road further grew his fanbase. In 2008 he released his fourth album A Long Way from Tupelo to a No. 7 spot on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums Chart, supporting the release with late night TV appearances on Conan and Jimmy Kimmel. Since then Thorn has released two critically and commercially successful albums, and he continues to impress with rollicking performances on tour.

    Great Venue

by PTB Fan on 8/30/21Old Forester's Paristown Hall - Louisville

Small listening hall. Very good sound. Maybe could use a little more variety in the snacks for us non-drinking drivers LOL. Overall, one of the best halls I've seen a show in. PTB is always a great show regardless, but this hall enhanced the experience.

    Concert was great but . . .

by Anonymous on 8/30/21Old Forester's Paristown Hall - Louisville

. . . the venue was disappointing. Paul and his band were fabulous as always--tight and fun. Paul is a great storyteller, with and without music. And his band members are with him all the way--I love watching them while they play. It was my first time at Paristown Hall and the seating was uncomfortable. The seats were narrow and tethered together so unless you were a very small person, you were spreading over onto the next person's seat. The acoustics were good but they need to provide more spacious seating if they want to attract audiences.

    Nice new material

by Always Ready on 8/30/21Old Forester's Paristown Hall - Louisville

The new songs are a welcome addition to the show. And the new lead guitar player is as great as the one he replaced. That’s saying something.

We skipped the concert because of the Delta surge

by Terri on 8/30/21Old Forester's Paristown Hall - Louisville

Even though we're vaccinated, we decided not to attend an indoor event because of the recent surge. I see that some venues are requiring proof of vaccination or negative test to enter, and we would have attended if it had been required for this show. Hopefully next time!

I was very disappointed in the show, the venue was awesome

by Karen O on 8/30/21Old Forester's Paristown Hall - Louisville

This is probably my 10th Paul Thorn concert and he just didn't seem to be into it. Maybe it was because the crowd was so small and apparently ticket sales didn't go well. He's usually a great story teller and ends with something unique. The ticket prices were high for one of his shows, but I obviously don't mind paying for a great show, but this wasn't the case. On the flip side, Paristown seating and facility was awesome.

What a great concert!! Paul and The band were amazing. Of all the shows I’ve been to, his connection with the audience was one of the most genuine I’ve seen.
