About

Payable on Death, otherwise known as P.O.D. has recently emerged from a brief hiatus with the much-anticipated release of a deluxe edition of hit album "Murdered Love." Included among the many remixed tracks are bonus singles such as "Burn It Down" and "Find A Way." The band does not plan to go on tour in the immediate future, as its members see maintaining their current levels of mental health as a major priority over selling tickets. However, should any of their hard-rocking, head-banging future concerts occur, the focus would likely be on a return to P.O.D.'s roots as a Christian nu-metal band.
P.O.D. has a long history as a force for shaking up the often complacent world of Christian music. The group first formed in the early 90s, when Wuv Bernardo and Marcos Curiel came together for frequent jam sessions. These original members were quickly joined by the equally talented Gabe Portillo and Sonny Sandoval. Given Sandoval's transition to Christianity in the aftermath of his mother's death, it came as little surprise when the band - previously dedicated to Metallica covers - began playing songs that were clearly religious in nature. Their early Christian rock successes include such hit albums as "Snuff The Punk" and "Brown" in the mid 90s, which were later followed by "The Fundamental Elements of Southtown" and "Satellite." More recently, the band released "Murdered Love," a hit album that reached No. 17 on the Billboard 200 in 2012. "A Murdered Love" tour has yet to take place, but, based on the recent release of "Murdered Love Deluxe," it could be a definite possibility in the near future.

    Didn't go

by Gary on 10/23/21House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

Sorry. I didn't go but I didn't mean to give a 1 star rating either. I was having trouble getting it to post my rating messed up. Even though I missed the show, I give POD a 5 star rating just for inviting "Sleep Signals" as an opening band! Their drummer is family!

We really enjoyed the show at House of Blues. Balcony seats were excellent. All three bands rocked and put on great performances. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys aggressive rock and roll with a spiritual message.

It was uncomfortable to be back

by Torment92121 on 10/12/21House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

P.O.D. concerts are usually wild and include moshing. This time it was more violent that ever before. All their angst had been built up, all of the aggressive churning, pushing, beer spraying was dangerous. MUSIC was great but the wait was too long with two opening acts. HATED that I had to download and use an app to access my ticket. Extremely frustrating.

P.O.D brings the BOOM! In the House of Blues

by Eric M on 10/3/21House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

It was the first time my son and I had been to the House of Blues in Cleveland Ohio. September 28th 2021 will forever live on in my mind. Eagerly waiting in line for the venue to open my anticipation grew inside as I’d glanced at my phone periodically checking the time. At last the doors opened and my son and I stepped into what was the most awesome night of music and entertainment. The House of Blues staff were professional and courteous to all the guest what I really appreciated was the high security measures they had in place ensuring that all there guest were safe. Making our way up into the balcony we took our seats. What I loved was the venue was small and up close and personal making me feel like I was a V.I..P. There were two opening acts All Things Good and From Ashes to New. The moment the drummer from All Things good beat his sticks into the floor tom with a thunderous boom that pounded my chest like the grand finally of the Fourth of July I knew my son and I were in for night of rock and roll greatness. Finally the time came for the one reason everyone gathered there that night P.O.D baby! The crowed erupted as the projector screen raised up exposing the darkened and smoky stage as the blue LED lights cut through it like a sword. My eyes were drawn to the drum riser as the P.O.D symbol shown brightly like a beacon In the night all the while the opening prelude played. The energy exploded in the room as the drummer kicked off the opening Tom fill to Set it off then Boom! The whole band kicked in the guitar like a hungry monster chomped it’s way into my ears consuming everything in the room as the bass and drums brought the thunderous back beat rhythm then up to the mic comes Sonny, “How you feeling Cleveland?” On it went they played every song even the fillers on the Satellite Album in order followed by there new song Sleep Awake, and other awesome classic favorites of mine Rock the Party and Southtown. What I loved about these guys and there music they played it was real, it was genuine what I mean by that is, there were no backing tracks no fake prerecorded back round vocals it’s was raw, natural and authentic Sonny I don’t know if you’ll ever see this review but if you do I wanna tell you at the end of the song Messenger when you screamed out “People! The KING is coming! I shot to my feet shouting with excitement because my spirit bared witness to the fact that the King Jesus is coming! My the Lord continue to bless you guys and your families. This was the first time my son and I ever saw them live. Hands down P.O.D brought the Boom! At the House of Blues.

    A fun night

by R.E. on 10/1/21House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

They sounded good and played all the songs on their biggest album. The singer sounded just like on CD. Very high energy!! They played all their hits except "Goodbye for now" which seems like a bit of a missed opportunity. It would be the perfect last song in a set. All in all id recommend seeing them.
