About

OTTMAR LIEBERT IN CONCERT:

Guitarist and  Zen monk Ottmar Liebert is a giant of new age music, beloved by fans around the world for his virtuosic brand of Spanish-influenced guitar instrumentals. His pared down live performances are a model of less-is-more, moving audiences with simple yet emotional arrangements that allow his talents to really shine. Fans at Liebert's 2013 shows were treated to a decidedly spiritual experience, building anticipation for his 2014 tour dates with his band Luna Negra.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Cologne, West Germany, Ottmar Liebert took up the guitar at age 11 and the flamenco guitar at 14. After several years playing rock music throughout Germany and the US, Liebert settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1989 and started the first incarnation of his band Luna Negra. Their 1990 debut LP Nouveau Flamenco marked a break with Liebert's rock past, instead exploring "new flamenco," a subgenre that featured traditional flamenco guitar alongside more contemporary pop elements. Over the next two decades, Liebert released more than 20 studio albums, five of which received Grammy nominations for Best New Age Album. The recipient of 38 Gold and Platinum certifications from the RIAA, Liebert is poised for even more success with two new albums slated for 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"To describe Ottmar's performance as amazing would be an understatement. It was without a doubt...the evening of a lifetime. He plays with his heart and soul — you as the audience feel every chord that he strums."

"Ottmar Liebert was incredible. He played for an hour and a half and it was one of the best concerts I've been to. He played some new music, the new CD is fabulous. He played some old music, it was the perfect mix of songs. He is a humble and talented man."

"Spiritual and then some. His playlist was great and in some cases, I preferred the stage version over the studio version."

5 stars for Ottmar but 1 star for Ponte Vedra Concert Hall

by Katherine on 4/21/24Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

Ponte Vedra Concert Hall needs a no cell phone rule bc there were so many people on their brightly lit phones, trying to record the show, using FLASH. So annoying and disruptive. This indoor venue is flat so when people lift their phones to record, it blocks the view.

    Great music, too bad I couldn’t c u play

by Cynthia P on 4/21/24Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

I have been waiting years to see him, too bad I couldn’t. His music did not disappoint, but the venue did. PVCH, knowing that he would be sitting the entire show so that he could play his guitar, should have created an elevated stage w/i the stage so that those of us in the back could actually see him play. The venue does not have stadium sitting and that was the problem. That really disappointed me and is the only reason I am not giving 5 stars.

    Therapeutic Music

by Mama Dot on 4/21/24Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

This was the perfect music to help me disconnect from a stressful time in my life for a little while and just live in the moment. I grew up listening to Ottmar Liebert and Luna Negra, and never dreamed I’d get to experience their performance first hand. So glad I got the chance to be there!

We love seeing Ottmar at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. His music is amazing, and his concerts never disappoint us. We go every year. His two band mates are incredibly talented, and it’s great how he features each one. A thoroughly enjoyable experience!

    Performance was outstanding!

by Don on 1/24/24House of Blues Houston - Houston

First time at House of Blues. Small intimate setting with nice acoustics. Music outstanding. Suggestions We sat in balcony with obstructed view of stage. Strategically placed mirrors along edge of balcony between balcony and floor would be helpful for seeing musicians/performers. Also tickets were for 7 pm. The music started later. We arrived early thinking it would start at 7. Had to wait outside in the cold. Event should start at time on tickets and the venue open earlier so you can get food refreshments and be seated comfortably like is done at sporting events. Concert tailgate?! Hope these suggestions are helpful to House of Blues Management.

    Monotony

by Jose on 1/24/24House of Blues Houston - Houston

The tune was an absolute monotony. Lack a variety. We were under the impression that was the same song all the time, over and over. The audience was very respectful even everyone noticed the monotony.

    Superb Performance

by MB on 1/23/24House of Blues Houston - Houston

I listened to Ottmar Liebert on The Wave radio in LA and have some of his earliest CDs. Was thrilled to see he was performing in Houston - had no idea he was touring. Brought a couple friends and we all enjoyed his music! Just wonderful.

Great performance but HOB seating not.

by Ottmar Liebert Concert- HOB on 1/23/24House of Blues Houston - Houston

I spent a little more for 4th row floor seating to take my mom. She absolutely loves Ottmar Liebert. His show was outstanding! The floor seating at House of Blues was not. They pile these uncomfortable folding chairs in like sardines! Practically sitting on the lap of the person next to you. Not comfortable and very awkward next to a stranger. I know House of Blues are trying to sell as many seats but for a premium price for floor seating, it should be much better than this.

    It’s not worth it

by Zoopiter on 1/23/24House of Blues Houston - Houston

I have season’s tickets to the Houston Symphony, on my phone, and I walk right in, which takes about 1 minute. Live Nation required me to stand in line for an hour prior to the show, then used a wand to check for weapons, then searched my wife’s purse. Never again. No matter who is performing.
