    Beautiful!

by annthelibrarian on 10/27/15CSUN - Cal State Northridge - Northridge

I had never seen Orfeo Ed Euridice before but I knew that the students at CSUN would do an excellent job and I was blown away by how gorgeously they interwove singing, ballet, costumes and simple props to tell a compelling story about this Greek myth. I was moved! Even my husband, who is not a big opera fan, found it a very entertaining performance.

    ORFEO ED EURIDICE Arizona Opera

by Moses8 on 4/24/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

Was very disapointing. The costumes were drab, especially for the furies. The women (Katharina Goeldner) who sang as Orfeo was boring, no emothion. She could have been singing about cooking soup. If I could get my money back I would.

    Orfeo & Euridice! AWESOME!

by mightyshandora on 4/24/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

This is the first time I took my children ages 6 & 13 to opera. They loved the experience. The sets were the best, the music amazing and the singing, WOW! My son was so impressed he asked to go back next season! It was a wonderful performance and I am looking forward to seeing what next season brings!

    very tasteful

by PIOSER on 4/24/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

since we had not seen for many years, we looked at a dvd of an english productton. After seeing the Tucson production we found it better, more tasteful and less infantile. The singing, the orchestra, the dances, the scenery were all appropriate and eccellent. A wonderful opera evening. We are new to Tucson. The local company is not the Mets. There are many less people on the scene, but still the production is elegant. We suscribed for the next year

    Orfeo ed Eurydice Opera

by Anonymous on 4/23/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

Opera was dull, music forgettable. BUT, sets were great and costumes too. And singing was really good....voices beautifully trained. Orchestra was great. Poor decision of putting a woman in the role of Orfeo. During duets, couldn't tell one voice from another. Mezzo - soprano isn't a substitute for a tenor.

Too Many Women in the leads!

by Hideous on 4/23/12Tucson Music Hall - Tucson

I found this production so disappointing. I took my daughter to her first opera this evening in hopes of exposing her to the wonderful world of opera and was so sad that this was what she wound up seeing. The main issue was the lack of a male lead. I appreciate if there was a possible gay scenario trying to be relayed to the audience, and if that was not the intent, it sure came across that way. BUT, to have both women singing in the same register made it impossible to tell who was singing when both were on the stage and both were singing. I fell asleep after the first act because I had had it at that point, but stayed in case my daughter was finding something to enjoy. The best part of this evening for me was when the young man proposed marriage to his love and she accepted. That was the most audience interaction I felt during this evening. I have been to other phenomenal productions of the Tucson Opera but I question whether to go back again. Sorry but this was awful and my daughter doesn't care to try going to an opera again.

    Orfeo & Euridice

    by KWKW7 on 4/17/12Symphony Hall - Phoenix

The music was great from start to finish.... Only comment, the orchestra at times drowned out Orfeo. the sets were great, expecially the back ground ..... they conveyed place and mood tvery well.

    Orfeo de Euredice was amazing

    by hannah68 on 4/17/12Symphony Hall - Phoenix

I saw Orfeo de Euridice for the first time and it was my first opera. I was thoroughly impressed. I don't know a lot about opera, but the story was beautiful . To hear the strength in these beautiful voices is almost unbelievable. Almost hard to believe I was very happy to have chosen this opera for my first. It had singing and dancing. True love will prevail is the basis of this beautiful opera. It was lovely. It won't be my last!! I am now an opera fan Thank you to the lovely ladies who performed Ordeo and Euredice They were terrific!! Bravo!!!!

by Janetcs on 4/17/12Symphony Hall - Phoenix

Positives: great sets, Euridice, happy ending Negatives: blah direction, blah opera, very low energy, Orfeo-plus minus I usually love the AZ Opera, but not this time.
