The opera was well put together. I found that the voices of the singers carried well in the auditorium. The orchestra played extremely well bringing life to the opera itself.
Loved the show. Only complaint was nothing to do with the performance, but about our seats, which I elaborated on below! Seriously, the performers did a wonderful job and I was so happy to have a full set this time, unlike La Traviatta, where so much was left to the imagination. I didn't care for that type of performance at all. Carmen was wonderful and we all enjoyed the show very much. About the seats: (it's too long to enter below, so trying here instead!) We were in the front row and the metal railing that goes around the edge obstructed our view of the stage. My husband and I are tall, so maybe it's not a problem for everyone, but we either had to sit up very straight and lean forward, or slouch down in our chair to either see over or under the rail! Also, the first row is never a good choice, b/c you cannot stretch out your legs underneath the seat in front of you.
Very disappointed left after the 2nd act exit elevator full production lacked passion chemistry between carmen and jose unconvincing switch from italian to french poor choice, have tickets for M Butterfly will not renew if it is as thin an experience
I have avoided Opera attendance for many years but decided to go one time. I have to say the production was phenomenal for a first timer. The sets,the costumes,the orchestra and the players/Singers were superb! I may not be an Opera snob but I know quality and talent when I see and hear it. I liked the translation board above the stage as it helped with my understanding. A Bravo all round as you all made this experience such a delight.I will certainly be there for Madam Butterfly.
