by DreamerPoet on 6/7/11Mendelssohn Theatre - Ann ArborWithin the first few minutes I realized I was in for something special - the settings, costumes, music, and each and every character in the play were exceptional. Due to the fact that this was not a professional company of players, I attended the performance merely as a way to pass the time pleasantly (I have no relatives in the production); however, this play, "Once Upon A Mattress", was the equal to many a show on Broadway (shows with large financial backings and highly professional ensembles) . . . and I found that astonishing. Everyone involved in the play deserves the highest of praise, for the caliber of the piece left not only me, but the whole audience, joyfully giving a standing ovation in appreciation for the gift we were given.
