About

Oklahoma State Cowboys Men's Basketball at Gallagher-Iba Arena

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are a hard-charging team with a long history and a lethally loyal fan base. Coached since 2017 by Mike Boynton, the Oklahoma State Cowboys have appeared in six Final Four series and have won two NCAA and four conference tournament championships. Oklahoma State plays in Gallagher-Iba Arena, which was built in 1938 as the 4-H Clubs and Student Activities Building and was renamed Gallagher Hall after the beloved wrestling coach Ed Gallagher. Most recently renovated in 2000, the venue was renamed Gallagher-Iba to honor influential head coach Henry Iba. The arena seats 13,611 and is also the home of the NCAA women's division Cowgirls basketball.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Men's Basketball History

Oklahoma State's basketball program dates back to 1908, when the school was known as Oklahoma A&M College and the team was the Aggies. The university became Oklahoma State in 1957 and joined the Big Eight the same year -- midway through the 36-year tenure of Henry Iba, who started coaching basketball at A&M in 1934 and stayed until 1970. Under his tenure, the team reached the Final Four four times and won the championship twice. Coach Iba was known for an inventive and fearless defensive strategy that prized low-scoring games of endurance and perseverance using the "swinging gate" defense. In 1990, former Cowboy Eddie Sutton took the reins, taking Oklahoma State to the Sweet 16 his first year and to the Final Four twice more in 1995 and 2004, for the first time since the '40s.

More than two dozen Cowboys have gone on to play in the NBA, including NBA All-Defensive First Team 2019 member Marcus Smart, NBA champions Tony Allen, Terrel Harris and Corey Williams, and NBA All-Star John Starks. In 2001, a plane crash in Colorado during a snowstorm killed two Cowboys players and several staff members, plus the pilot and copilot, who are honored every year at an event called "Remember the Ten."

The Cowboys' rivalry with the University of Oklahoma transcends the sport of basketball and is known as the "Bedlam Series," named for the intense competition of the wrestling teams in the old Field House. The basketball rivalry between the two Big 12 teams dates back to 1907, and the Cowboys have swept the series multiple times since 2017.

    Great seats, but.,,

I wish I would have been instructed on which side of the arena to park on. It made for a super long walk because of course we parked on the wrong side.

You will not want to publish this ONE... sorry I didn't to attend as I have my ALL orange outfit picked out. My mobility challenged attendees decided it wasn't worth the risk as I could never get a live person to assist with my tickets.

    University of Tulsa Alumni

by Pam and Joe on 12/13/23Paycom Center - Oklahoma City

The facility was nice and appreciated ease and use of tickets. However, we attended the TU game. Only OSU tickets were mentioned in the notices or purchasing instructions. Regardless of the number of tickets sold or "Home"/"Visitor"designation, for a neutral setting, TU should have received equal status in promoting the event. i.e. OSU/TU Basketball Even this review is based on the OSU event. TU was slighted all around. Disappointing.

    Buying early isn’t always best

by Coachdbball on 12/13/23Paycom Center - Oklahoma City

Bought tickets early. Got there and had to go to box office because the seats were marked impaired so had to get different seats. Price on original seats had went down $10. I know that happens due to demand but should be a refund for the difference and the original seats shouldn’t have been sold if they aren’t going to be available to use.

    Better Information

by Bobbytwo on 3/7/22Gallagher Iba Arena - Stillwater

when ordering tickets...you guys show nothing available in the lower two bowls. Everything was in the 300 sections....affectionally know as the "nose bleed sections". When we arrived at the game...there were tons of empty seats in the middle bowl (200 sections). If you want to stay in business...you need to do a better job. In the future...I will find my tickets elsewhere.

    Great venue!

by Thesalleys on 1/7/22Gallagher Iba Arena - Stillwater

We got into town after dark so we had trouble finding the correct parking lot but everyone was so helpful in guiding us to where we needed to be. Even though we were for the opposing team. Our seats were in the upper section so my only complaint is the stairs. They are super steep so we will keep that in mind for the next game.

    OSU vs Texas Tech (2-15-20)

by Dukes Pokes on 2/18/20Gallagher Iba Arena - Stillwater

Great game, great seats. Christmas gift for my mother (she had never been to a game.) Loved every minute of it. Ticketmaster made it very easy to get tickets and was very good about reminding us about the upcoming event.
