    Best acts bailed

by JackieARP on 10/6/16Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain View

This is the third year I've attended Oddball, and the quality has declined every year. Kumail Nanjiani and Iliza Schlessinger canceled at the last minute, and the only notice was a very small sign near the entrance. They were the primary attractions in this year's lineup. With the exception of Matt Broussard, most of the remaining comedians were not funny, primarily leaning on hackey and often racist/insulting humor of the Andrew Dice Clay tradition. Add to that the number of people who brought small children to a very mature show (one kid about 5 was pointed out by the comedians) and the fact that the Live Nation app was a complete failure, and the event was a complete failure.

    My 4th annual!

by Tasha74 on 10/6/16Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain View

This is my 4th time going to the oddball festival at shoreline amphitheatre and as usual it was fun as hell!! And I enjoy watching it from the lawn area or as Jeffrey Ross calls it " handjob hill", lol! Sebastian Maniscolo and Tom Segura were my favorites even though they were all great!

    Very dissapointing

    by Jay8487678jj on 10/5/16Ak-Chin Pavilion - Phoenix

Tickets and web site said the event was supposed to start at 5pm. Showed up at 4:30 to a huge line so everyone else thought the same thing. Actually the gates opened at 5 and the show started at 7. So after the long wait we were very excited for the line up. It was the last stop on the tour and it showed. The comedians seemed tired and ready to be done. Only 2 of the 9 comedians were funny. By the time Dane cook got up we were tired and ready to go. But we held out... turns out we should have left early. Huge let down. Not worth half of the $300 we paid for tickets.

    Sebastian Maniscalco was the best!

by KEmcee on 10/5/16Ak-Chin Pavilion - Phoenix

It was our first time attending this venue, Ak-Chin Pavillion. The ticket said 5:00, meaning the gate didn't open till 5:00. We thought it was the showtime so we arrived at 4:15 thinking we had plenty of time to get a beer and find our seats. Since we stood outside for close to an hour, we realized 5:00 was NOT the showtime. Once we were let in, we got our beverages and headed to our seats. There we were told that seating was closed until 6. This was another whole hour of standing and waiting around. The show didn't start until 7:00! Everyone was walking around bitching at the venue staff that we've already been standing in the sun waiting to get in now we can't even sit down! I assume this was a way to get people to buy more food and drinks at outrages prices. (2 beers were $25). We were happy to finally get to our seats and the show itself was great. We went to see Sebastian and Jeff Ross and they did not disappoint.

    Don't go "on time"

by JEMASTER on 10/5/16Ak-Chin Pavilion - Phoenix

It sucks that I feel compelled to not give this 5 stars but having the wrong start time on tickets is unacceptable. Especially in Phoenix when it's hot out. We showed up about 30 min early to what was listed as a 5:00 start time. Turns out they didn't open the gates until 5. They had no place to sit because we couldn't go to our paid for assigned seats until about an hour later. (No reason given) Being with a disabled senior made this challenging and nobody cared. The only good was Sebastian Maniscalco. That dude is genius and I'd see him again in a heartbeat.

    Great Saturday night

by Yomama828 on 10/5/16Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (formerly Verizon Wireless Amph) - Irvine

Second year going to oddball and so sad it's the last time it will happen in Irvine. I plan to go every year it's available, it's introduced me to so many new comedians to follow. If your thinking about going go! Who doesn't want to laugh for a couple of hours it's the best.

    Cook mailed it in

by madeafunny on 10/5/16Ak-Chin Pavilion - Phoenix

Meh. Let's start with the fact that the tickets said show started at 5:00. Nope, doors opened at 5:00 and they wouldn't let you go to your seats until 6:00. Then they showed video clips from IFC for an hour. Big deal, not funny, waste of time. All in an effort to get people to buy overpriced drinks and bad food. Wifi was terrible. Workers in food service barely understood english. Host Jeff came out at 7:00 with a lot of unnecessary language and bad jokes. It was the last stop on the tour and it showed. They were knackered. The warm up comics were mildly funny. They performed their duties. Matt Broussard was a refreshing young comic. Iliza was very good. She mixed some of her old with new, thank you for that. I usually enjoy Jim Jeffries. I like the way he uses analogies in his routine. This time it wasn't that funny. Slavery and small things to make him feel like a giant were lame. Sebastian was the best of the night. Clever and witty and his accent and facial expressions were on point. Dane looked like he just crawled out of a cave. He looked tired and his set mirrored that. He bragged about his category knowledge on you porn...again, joked about abortion, using the C word...again, and masturbation...again. Boring. It's lazy, lazy comedy and not funny. Doing a bit on porn is old and nobody cares about self pleasure. He just mailed it in and checked the box. One last thing, comics who brag about how much cocaine they did in the 80s are lame. Two comics at least did it here. They talk about how much blow they did and how cool they were. Operative word here being "were", past tense. Nobody cares. Clearly the 80s is when they peaked and they are still trying to get that feeling back. The show was too long because it wasn't funny enough to last 3 hours and 40 minutes (Cook came on at 10:04). I thought about recommending it, but really you can just watch this on you tube at home with some cheap popcorn and free water. Any new comic will rise to the forefront eventually.

    Good except Dane Cook

by Stocktongrad04 on 10/4/16Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (formerly Verizon Wireless Amph) - Irvine

Show was pretty good, all comedians were great except Dane cook. Headliner should've been Sebastian. He killed. Then he left the stage and 1/4 of the audience got up and left before Dane cook got on stage. Then another 1/4 left 10 minutes into his set. Just not funny.
