The Barons were behind most of the game 3-0. With seconds to go in the game the Barons tied it up with a very exciting goal. Then they went on to win it in overtime!

OKC Barons Hockey

This was our second time attending an OKC Baron Hockey game and I was not disappointed. We took my parents this time and it was a great family experience. I wished we lived closer to be able to attend more but we live over two hours away from OKC. Hockey is one of those sports where it is just so much more exciting to see in person. I have never watched nor probably will watch a hockey game on TV but would watch OKC Barons every chance I got if it was possible. This was an awesome playoff game with the San Antonio Rampage. OKC trailed 0-3 almost the entire game and came back the last period and tied it for overtime and then won in overtime. The atmosphere at OKC is the best experience I could have given my parents and my son always loves watching the Barons win!

Farewell to the Barons

My first visit to the Cox Convention Center, for the purpose of seeing the last two regular season home games of the AHL's OKC Barons. The early 70's era facility is showing its age, but it has been maintained & the Barons placards all around the walls brighten things up. Seats are very low to the floor, but with adequate leg room in the lower bowl. Lighting is good throughout the complex, but the sound quality in the arena is no better than average. Good variety of concessions at fair prices, and one of the largest team merchandise stores that I've seen for a minor pro franchise. Ticket takers & ushers & service personnel were all very friendly. Friday night crowd was small (approx. 3900) but enthusiastic, while the Saturday night crowd of 6200 fans were loud & engaged. The Barons' in-game entertainment guy & their mascot are probably the best pair of game stoppage/intermission entertainers that I've seen at the dozens of minor pro hockey arenas I've visited. I hope Oklahoma City gets another hockey team in the near future.

We're terribly disappointed to learn the Barons will be no more after this season. We've always enjoyed the games. It was shocking to get down to the Cox Center and find that even though we were attending a game in that facility, we're not allowed to use the parking. No wonder the Oilers can't reach an agreement, I don't think you could tell a team they were any LESS wanted than by selling the parking out from under them and the fans.

My first hockey game to see and will be going again! Although we missed the first period looking for the center and for parking, it definately left us smiling in the end.
