We attended the 11 am Saturday show on 12/11. The crowd was mostly families with young children. Surprisingly, for most of the show the characters were able to hold everyone's attention. There was a lovely introduction which was just so appreciated and fun. I have a 4 year old and was worried she might not be able to sit through the show or wouldn't be interested. I was wrong. My daughter was familiar with the story and the music, but there is so much more to the show than that. The length of the show was just perfect for my daughter (and husband). The costumes were beautiful. There were children dancing which really got her attention. Also, there were many funny moments in the show. Our favorite was the mouse Queen! The dancing was really beautiful and we were so happy with our overall experience, I would go back next week!
the show was well done, very talented dances who filled the stage.. jus the right length of a ballet for 3-7 year olds and their adults..

I was a little perturbed at the removal of a few key parts to the ballet and story bc they are key elements to the Nutcracker for me and my family. 1) why remove fritz and the entire part in the party scene with him breaking the nutcracker doll? 2) the soldier march music in the first act is so iconic, why remove that? 3) as is the sugar plum fairy score/solo, why remove that? In all it was a nice venue for smaller children and paired down version for kids to sit through, for the most part. As someone who has performed in the Nutcracker numerous times in the past, I’ve found that kids love the first act with the drama and the nuisances of a Christmas party and relate to the children on stage. The second act, as fun as it seems, is when they get bored bc there really is not a storyline. Sure enough as soon as Mirilton/Shepardess came on my son started asking when the show was over. Just some food for thought.

What can I write that describes the magic we saw on Sunday at the Nutcracker! I brought my three year old granddaughter and my mom (great grandma!). We did not quite know what to expect. What we were greeted with were dancers dresses as mice greeting the children with the programs...lovely staging and sets, a lighting demo that the children and I enjoyed and then dancing that was abridged just right for the one hour...just long enough for the children to be mesmerized the entire time! Costumes magnificent, dancing superb, completely and totally satisfying and enjoyable!!!!! Thank you and we look forward to future performances.
The company does a terrific job of abridging the ballet down to an hour while still honoring the story line and keeping all of the memorable musical themes intact. The dancers are extremely talented, and the scenery and costumes were impressive as well. Theatre is not too big, so every seat is worthy of the ticket price. This was our second time attending, and we plan on coming again next year. Highly recommended!
it was absolutely delightful . . . a perfect sharing experience for young and old.
I chose this performance of the Nutcracker to take my four year old granddaughters because of the reviews I had read and they were right! It was the perfect length and it was fun ! I was hoping that it would have been narrated throughout the performance- I think that might have added something during the longer dances.
