About

NOSAJ THING IN CONCERT:

In just a few short years, LA-based beatmaker Nosaj Thing has become one of the most beloved figures in experimental hip hop. The man behind the music -- Jason Chung -- got his first set of turntables at age 12, and today he's a master of his craft, conjuring up never-before-heard sonic worlds on both his solo releases and his productions for artists like Chance the Rapper and Kendrick Lamar. His live shows are an all-out feast for the senses, treating fans to mesmerizing sonic confections and state-of-the-art visuals that perfectly complement his futuristic tracks. Whether he's dropping the beat on his remix of Little Dragon's "Klapp Klapp" or tweaking the knobs on originals like "Eclipse/Blue", Thing always delivers  a mind-blowing and dance-worthy concert experience full of otherworldly sounds.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Los Angeles-born production wunderkind Jason Chung began making beats on his father's PC while still in high school. The precocious young talent made his debut as Nosaj Thing at LA underground club The Smell 2004, and before long he was rubbing shoulders with legendary electronic producers like Flying Lotus and Daedelus at the city's now-famous Low End Theory club night. He self-released his debut EP Views/Octopus in 2006, and in 2009 he issued his first full-length album Drift on Alpha Pup Records. A remix album, Drift Remixed, arrived the following year, establishing him as a vital EDM force and leading to a high-profile set at the 2011 Coachella music festival. Nosaj Thing released his critically acclaimed sophomore album Home in 2013, backing it up with extensive touring that had him gracing the decks of clubs and theaters around the country. Since then he's kept fans moving with a steady remix release schedule and electrifying performances on tour.

both opener and Mary Anne Hobbs were great

by toughcrowdz on 12/14/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

The people who booked the show, and the artists who played were what made this whole experience, particularly Mary Anne Hobbs. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Light show was great, opener played some very interesting variations of experimental house-y tech-step stuff and once the crowd figured out what to do with MOH's go-go dancers and techno track they eventually got really into it. Great venue, solid staff, with 2 bars and a great vantage point from the upper balcony level.
