About

Due in part to front man Charlie Fink’s distinctively abysmal voice, Noah and the Whale characterized themselves as a quirky fixture among the alternative genre for their trademark fusion of folk and electronic elements in 2008, produced by frequent employment of the fiddle, harmonium, harmonica and ukelele. Over the course of the next two albums, 2009's The First Days of Spring and 2011’s Last Night on Earth, changes to the band's lineup, including the exit of singer Laura Marling, resulted in defining shifts to Noah and the Whale's original sound. Their latest album, Heart of Nowhere, premiered May 6, 2013 via Mercury Records.

Noah and the Whale was amazing!

    by GreatDane1138 on 10/20/13Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Despite some technical difficulties to no fault of the band. It was a great show and a lot of fun. It was probably my favorite concert for the year.

A Whale of a good time

by SkiRacr on 10/20/13Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

Great show in a great venue. Noah and the Whale showed excellent musicianship, with some great new arrangements for some of their songs that would otherwise be a little bleak for a live show. Good audience rapport, great music, and the first concert for my 13 yr old son was a perfect show.

    Excellent concert, some technical glitches

by LPresto on 10/18/13Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

This was an excellent concert in a small intimate venue. The set list was fantastic. There was a small glitch with the violin - may have been a sound board/mixing issue - but other than that the sound was excellent. Even got to meet the band after the performance.

Noah and the Whale rocked Atlanta

by anniebabycakess on 10/18/13Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Noah and the whale is one of the most amazing bands and they are even better live. They were actually hanging out outside the venue and I got the chance to meet them. They are super humble and amazing people! Their performance was personal and not many artists interact with the crowd as much as they did. Very few times do I like the band more live than on their CD. They were definitely a band that will stay in my heart forever.

Great Band at a Great Venue

by EleanorRigbyATL on 10/15/13House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

I was in Chicago for work and decided to see Noah and the Whale since I wouldn't be able to attend their show in Atlanta. At first I was a little turned off to a show in the House of Blues since its a chain and there are so many amazing venues in Chicago. Boy was I wrong. Although all house of blues have pretty much the same set up, I was pleasantly surprised. There was a good crowd but I was able to get a spot next to the bar on the left side of the stage. I had a perfect, close view of the stage. The service from the bar was impeccable. The band put on an amazing set as did the opener, Bonzie, who reminded me a bit of Florence Welch. Great show. Don't underestimate the House of Blues.

Noah and the Whale better live than on CD

by Coastie57 on 10/14/13The Pageant - St Louis

I was mildly interested in this band when I bought the tickets (plus my girlfriend loves the original opening act, LP, who later cancelled) but I was blown away when I saw them live. they have a great stage prescense, talented musicians, and an energy that is not conveyed in their recordings. I was impressed and I would go see them again.
