About

NIGHT MOVES IN CONCERT:

Minneapolis psych-folk trio Night Moves’ 2016 sophomore album Pennied Days was three years in the making, but it was worth the wait. The record sees the band perfecting all the things they did so well on their acclaimed debut—the lush harmonies soar higher than ever, the guitar and synth riffs are instantly classic, and the brilliant attention to sonic detail pulls listeners into the band’s immersive songs more effectively than ever. In concert Night Moves brings painstakingly crafted songs like “Carl Sagan” and “Denise, Don’t Wanna See You Cry” to life with palpable emotion, performing on top-of-the-line vintage gear and nailing each perfectly composed passage with bulletproof musicianship. Their classic sound and charismatic performances recall the magic of Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac, and while many bands strive for such a comparison, Night Moves is unique in that they’re the rare group who is actually capable of matching the timeless quality of the Mac.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Night Moves was formed in the Twin Cities in 2009 by core duo John Pelant and Micky Alfano. After two years of intensive recording the band released their 2011 debut album Colored Emotions for free on Bandcamp, but took it down a year later when British inside label Domino came knocking. After signing with the label the band re-entered the studio with producer Thom Monahan (Beachwood Sparks, Vetiver) to polish up the album, and in 2012 they re-released it to considerable critical acclaim. Following extensive touring, the band once again returned to the studio for what would ultimately be a three-year project—their sophomore album Pennied Days. The record dropped in early 2016 to rave reviews, earning the band comparisons to luminaries like Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, and The Beatles. It’s an impressive album that’s sure to stand the test of time, and ticket buyers eagerly await the chance to hear the new material in concert.

I was excited to see Night Moves live, as I've been listening to their new record on repeat for about a month now. I wasn't expecting to be blown away like I was... They were unbelievable! I will definitely be tracking them for another show. They were all so nice too!

    I think I am a fan now

by Bandnewbie on 4/26/16Great Scott - Allston

My friend came all the way from New Jersey to see Night Moves and I was invited to go with him. I was sent a few songs beforehand so I can get a feel for them but I do have to say, nothing compares to seeing them live. They were pretty sweet. I can see them getting big and they deserve it. They seem like really nice and genuine people. Hope they don't change.

Never miss out on a Zeds Dead show

by SierraaMystic on 4/22/15The Ritz - Raleigh

It was everything I expected and more. They played tons of oldies as well as new tracks on their Somewhere Else album. There was never a dull moment.

    Zeds Dead at The Ritz

by cMurfe on 4/21/15The Ritz - Raleigh

Show was freakin' awesome! Had a great time and the crowd was great too. Only complaint was that the venue was extremely hot inside, although they did provide several free water stations.

Night Moves rocked my socks off

by LKayMac on 1/22/13Mercury Lounge - New York

The cozy atmosphere of Mercury Lounge was a kick ass venue to first rock out to Night Moves. Their sound filled the space magically. John Pelant was an amazing performer, not only can he produce beautiful music with that voice, but he's extremely entertaining to watch up on stage. Every song hit the spot. Next time they are playing nearby I will be there!
