About

NICK 13 is a singer/songwriter who echoes the country music of the last century with a modern twist: Americana drawing on honky-tonk, California & Outlaw Country.

Perhaps best known for his band Tiger Army (who celebrated their 25th year in 2021), he’s not the first rock ‘n’ roller to have a love affair with country music, so his musical journey following punk back to its early rock ’n’ roll roots, then further to hillbilly & bluegrass shouldn’t be as surprising as it might at first seem.

His live solo debut at the Stagecoach Festival in 2010 drew many favorable notices (including the LA Times) & he returned in 2013. His eponymous debut album produced by legendary Americana musicians Greg Leisz & James Intveld was released by Sugar Hill Records in 2011.

The surrounding years saw performances at more festivals like Austin City Limits, live performances on legendary country music radio station WSM Nashville (including "Americana Carnival" & "All Nighter") & multiple US tours.

His video for "All Alone" was played on Great American Country, but his biggest video successes came with "Carry My Body Down" & "Nighttime Sky", both of which spent multiple weeks at #1 on the CMT Pure 12-Pack Countdown. Nick was also featured on Yahoo! Ram Country "Music With A View". His second Gretsch signature model guitar was released in 2020.

In recent years Nick’s focus returned to Tiger Army, but he's never stopped writing for his second solo album. His social media has indicated that recording new solo material is on his mind!

The show was freaking indescribably awesome, which in layman terms means I do not possess the proper vocabulary to intellectually convey how freaking indescribably awesome the concert was. Also: I cried.

by RoxanneMarie on 7/25/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Venue was small and very personal I had an amazing time! Except for running into Davey Havok (im a huuuuuge fan of his) and he totally blew me off. But the show was still fabulous!

Nick 13 has never put on a bad show, and this one was by far one of his best performances! I can't wait for Octoberflame! The El Rey was the perfect place for his LA shows, it was absolutely beautiful. I wish I could replay the night over and over!

    Amazing!

by SteamSyren on 7/23/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

This was my first time seeing Nick 13's solo work and it was amazing! The venue was perfect and fit the whole scheme of things. No one rushed the stage and it was very relaxed. I had an amazing time and so did my friend. I will definitely hit up the venue again and of course see Nick 13 when he's back with another show!

    Nick 13 incredible as always

by 7654 on 7/23/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

This was a completely brilliant experience. The Far West, who I was unfamiliar with prior to this show, won me over. They kept the audience engaged and interested. Their music fit well with the nights overall musical stylings. Nick 13 is just incredible. He truly enjoys his job and that is clear to anyone who watches him perform. Nick never disappoints with his choice of songs in his sets. The venue is one of my favorites to see live performances, and The Far West and Nick 13 did an incredible show.

Nick 13 was great. His stage presence was respectful and classy. His band had a great energy and were very tight. The supporting act, The Far West, completely enraptured me. I can't wait to see Nick 13 again.

    Nick13 at the El Rey

by hcprincess on 7/23/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

I have been a long time Tiger Army fan, and I have always loved their western/rockabilly tracks on each CD. When Nick13 decided to put out a solo album of Americana, I was into it 100%! I saw him play at Amoeba Records in Hollywood -- he was amazing. The show at the El Rey was even better! First of all, the El Rey is a such a great venue! It's an old Los Angeles landmark, and still stunning. When Nick13 took the stage I was excited because I didn't know what to expect. While I've been to so many Tiger Army shows, his solo work is so different! It was awesome. He had his stand-up bassist from earlier TA days, another guitarist, and a few other musicians on stage with him. He was just as charming as always, and gave us 100%!
