About

Get ready for this 1920s-era feel-good musical, complete with extravagant dance numbers, glittering costumes and an unlikely love story between a wealthy playboy and a rough and tumble lady bootlegger. This lighthearted crowd pleaser is set against the backdrop of classic Gershwin hits like “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off,” “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “Fascinating Rhythm.” Featuring a cast of larger-than-life ensemble characters, direction and choreography by three-time Tony® Award winner Kathleen Marshall (Anything Goes) and a snappy book by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro (Memphis), NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT harkens back to the golden age of American musical comedy. This sparkling, madcap tale combines laughter, romance and high-stepping Broadway magic for an evening bursting with girls, glamour and the glorious songs of Gershwin!

Not hard work to love it!

This was the best musical we've seen in years. We laughed and laughed. Singing and dancing was awesome. You have to see it. Even if you have to drive a bit. It's a MUST SEE.

    Fun, Entertaining, Great Acting/Singing/Dancing

by GraceAbounds on 2/5/15Warner Theatre - Washington

My 91 year old dad laughed out loud several times during this show, and he's not usually a "theatre person." The singing was well done and there are many well-delivered laughs. Great entertainment. My background is opera and theatre and I found the singing and acting to be excellent.

    Rising toward the crescendo

by Goodpub on 2/4/15Warner Theatre - Washington

This play starts with so much energy that you feel it can't be sustained... but it is! The character development starts out slowly and builds, drawing you into a story that at first seems too contrived and hokey. But it all comes together in a splash of color and a broadside of song and dance that left me exhausted and exhilarated.

Well, honestly, this was a bit of fluff & nonsense

by NoAvatar on 2/3/15Warner Theatre - Washington

Okay, I admit I had high expectations for any musical playing Gershwin numbers. But this was just plain silly. Not that most musicals don't have some silliness to them....but I just couldn't find anything memorable here. Nothing. Even the little political jokes (on both parties) fell flat. This just wasn't something I'd ever want to see again. Very very lite entertainment is about as nice as I can say for this.

The story was clever, and the music of course is recognizable and infectious. It is a great fun night full of beautiful music, great comedy, dance and direction. The characters are very well written. The acting is superb and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the stage.

    Great modern look at Gershwin

    by Mynickname409 on 2/3/15Warner Theatre - Washington

The Company presenting the show in DC was appealing and adequate. The music, of course, was extraordinary, and the choreography happily matched. Play itself was good Runyonesque fair, poking fun at musical clichés and in turn creating some new ones! I loved the whole production.
