    HUGE disappointment!

by GB23Mask on 1/2/13Rhode Island Convention Center - Providence

After weeks of excitement and anticipation with my friends for this event, I was highly disappointed and not impressed by it in the end. We had not been notified of the change that the bar went from being an open bar to a cash bar. I had noticed a $40 credit to my account, but did not know why and could not get in contact with anyone to explain why there was a credit, to then find out later, at the event itself at the bar, that it was for the change of the bar status. In my opinion, $40 is not even close to a fair refund amount for such a change and not to be notified on top of it was very poor service. In addition, the food and music at the event were mediocre at best. The food was very generic buffet food that I feel you would find at any school dance and the music was ruined by the constant talking from the dj, which you couldn't even understand, making it feel like you were at any club in Providence. I don't feel this event was worth paying $75 for and am planning never to attend this event again. I truly am disappointed!

Not so glamorous new years ball in RI

by Disgruntleddancer on 1/2/13Rhode Island Convention Center - Providence

There was no open bar, as was touted on the website. We did get $40 put back into our bank accounts before the event, but with no explanation as to why. When we got to the ball, we found out that the bar, which was open from 8pm to 2 am was a cash bar. $40 is not enough money to buy drinks from 8 to 2. Then we found out that the VIP people got ripped off too. Who is stupid enough to rip off the people who pay for VIP tickets? Not good. Also, when we got onto the dance floor, about half way through, some DJ starts talking over the music, that made for a lousy dance atmosphere. Then, they did a Ms.new years RI thing, cutting off the dance music. This was also not on the website, nor did we know that part of the money we had payed for the ball would be going to orphans. I am great to hear that that is what happened, but it would have been great to know before hand that they would be cutting into out dancing to talk to us about it. Over all I was disappointed with what we got, or didn't get, for the money we payed to have a good experience. I won't go again. I didn't have a good time.
