About

NEW MEDICINE IN CONCERT:

Few bands today rock as relentlessly as Minneapolis quartet New Medicine, whose frenetic live shows leave concertgoers bright-eyed, breathless, and thoroughly amped. Led by rage-ready frontman Jake Scherer, the group transitions seamlessly between acoustic ballads like "All About Me" and unapologetic party anthems like "One Too Many" and "World Class F*ck Up". With their spirited stage presence, addictive melodies, and in-your-face lyricism, New Medicine gives fans hard-hitting performances they'll never forget and a strong reminder that rock music can be loads of fun.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Alternative rock quartet New Medicine formed in Minneapolis in 2009. They burst onto the scene in 2010 with their debut album Race You To The Bottom and scored a hit single with its title track. Over the next couple years the band hit the live circuit, completing tours alongside rock heavyweights like Avenged Sevenfold, Halestorm, and Shinedown. 2013 was a transitional year for the band as they left original label Photo Finish Records and revamped their original lineup --drummer Ryan Guanzon and bassist Matt Brady were brought on board, joining guitarist Dan Garland and singer Jake Scherer. The newly reformed quartet relocated to Nashville and teamed up with producer Kevin Kaddish (O.A.R., Miley Cyrus, Skillet) for their sophomore album, 2014's Breaking The Model. Released on Imagen Records, the record channeled acts like Nine Inch Nails by incorporating electronic elements, while keeping New Medicine's anthemic rock sound intact with upbeat songs like "One Too Many".

    Band TERRIFIC! Venue NOT.

by Mpls on 10/31/23Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

New Medicine—high energy, totally engaging with the audience, terrific show band! The Varsity Theater…this used to be my favorite place to see a show. Not anymore. Since this venue has changed hands, it has lost all of its wonderful charm and hospitality. As soon as the show was over, patrons were actually herded out with pieces of fencing! I can understand if this would have been a hardcore show and there had been crowd issues. There was NONE of that. First of all, this venue is not that large, which has always been why seeing a show here is a great intimate experience. The band was set up to take pictures and sign autographs with fans and they were literally pushed out. You couldn’t even go to the bathroom! Mind you, this show ended at 1030. The venue could have let folks mingle, get another drink and close at 11. Very disappointed at what The Varsity has become.

    Fantastic

by Theshmus on 10/30/23Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

Pleasantly surprised by the opening bands, I have been a new medicine fan for 10+ years and this was a show I wasn’t going to miss. I hope they continue to do more shows, because anytime I can make it, I’ll be buying tickets.

    OMG!!!

    by Didi C on 11/16/22

Saw New Medicine back in 2011 with A7X. They were so amazing and had this incredible sound. They have a great stage presence and I also got to meet Brady and get a pic with him. I’m so glad they are back with new music and cannot wait to get to see them live again.!!

    New Medicine Must See

by Pelton on 12/26/11Fine Line Music Cafe - Minneapolis

Second time I've seen them. Will be happy to see them again. They played some older stuff not on their album and that was nice. I will say the only negative is they need more material so the set can be longer.
