About

NEON INDIAN IN CONCERT:

Chillwave pioneers Neon Indian have been dazzling audiences with their sparkling synthpop jams ever since their 2009 debut. Taking the stage as a five-piece, the band creates a stunning cocktail of retro synth textures, lo-fi beats, and live visuals as frontman Alan Palomo keeps audiences moving with dance floor-friendly tracks like "Polish Girl" and "Deadbeat Summer". Veteran performers who've graced the stage at some of the country's best festivals, Neon Indian never fail to impress with their energy and vibe on their must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Neon Indian began in 2008 as the bedroom project of frontman Alan Palomo, a Mexico-born, Texas-raised musician who had previously performed as Ghosthustler and VEGA. He made his album debut in 2009 with Psychic Chasms, a kaleidoscopic collection of washed-out summer jams that put chillwave on the critical radar and landed on numerous year-end lists. In 2011 he released his sophomore album Era Extrana, putting together a live band for a tour in support of the record that featured opening acts Purity Ring and Com Truise. With festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Sasquatch! under his belt, Palomo is a seasoned performer fans won't want to miss on his unforgettable tours.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

" Absolutely incredible from start to finish. Simple as that. Go and see Neon Indian if you ever have the chance."

"... Neon Indian rocked that house! They always do and I can't wait to see them again!"

" Neon Indian did not fail to please! Their tempo was right, Alan hit his notes, the stage was fun to watch, the band was excited to be there."

    A Must See!

by solitudeisbliss on 8/20/17Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

This set totally blew me away with the amount of energy that radiated from the stage. Everything from the lights to the music was empowering. His stage presence was incredible; there wasn't a moment he stood still. I had the pleasure to meet Alan after the show when he walked out to the front of the venue to greet people. Not only does he put on a great show, but he is one of the most down-to-earth people I've ever met. Totally worth every penny!

Neon Indian was great! The paradise wasn't.

by mh00 on 1/31/16Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I loved the show Neon Indian put on. Lots of energy, and they had a nice mix of classics and new material. The projection mapping and depth camera stuff was also really awesome. The paradise's sound system was really boomy and muddy, and didn't have enough high-end. We were stuck on the balcony behind the sound booth since it was so crowded, so maybe it would have sounded better on the floor, but I was pretty disappointed by that.

Neon Indian put on an amazing show

by XRivera20 on 1/31/16Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Computer magic did an awesome job opening up and neon Indian just set the mood with the first song they played, nonstop dancing until the end of their set.

    Very fun show

by steadyriot on 6/12/12Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Their show last year was one of my favorites, and this one was even better. More connected and thought out set list, better lights and sound, and the band's performance was a little improved. No popular song was left off, and the light show was great. The venue was very crowded and everyone was pretty into the music

The collaborative sounds of Neon Indian

by Mcfarry on 6/12/12Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I definitely liked the live show, but I would have to say I was a little disappointed with the sound system, maybe because of this particular genre of music - I was hoping for more edgy intensity and I guess clearer vocals, but I know Neon Indian is purposely ambient /psychedelic primarily anyways...I don't think I would have paid for three tickets at that price range again, but I love Neon Indian regardless so props to him and his crew! p.s. WISH IT COULD HAVE LASTED UNTIL 1am as well! Felt so short!

Good show, good price, small venue

by TheIncredibleHulk on 6/12/12Paradise Rock Club - Boston

The paradise is a good place to see a show. Its super cozy and wherever you are, you're going to get a good view of what's happening on stage. The acoustics for Neon Indian were pretty good, not great though. Of course you get what you pay for, and for the price, its hard to complain. As for the music itself, it was different than what I'd heard from his studio material. It was the same songs, but his recorded albums sound heavily produced and really carry that electronic sound. To be honest, I actually prefer Neon Indian's studio music to the live stuff. It was difficult to make out the words when he was singing live, and its my preference, in this context, to have that heavily digitalized feel. It sounds crisper and has a more definitive sound.

    Neon Indian was awful

by Paul12323 on 5/12/12Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Saw them at paradise rock club on 5/11 in Boston. I know paradise is an unusual venue acoustically due to its wide/narrow design, but I've never seen a show with such poor sound mixing. It was loud to the point of being painful, nearly impossible to hear the singer's voice, and overall muddy and distorted. I'm not a die hard fan but I've listened to psychic chasms and a few singles. It's the only concert I can remember walking out of well before the end. Huge disappointment since their recorded stuff is pretty solid.

    Fluorescent

by lapomegranate on 3/21/12Masquerade - Atlanta

All in all a good show. Only a few problems, such as the show was supposed to start at 8 PM, but Purity Ring (the opening act) didn't come out until around 9-9:30, so it was essentially just a packed crowd of annoyed sweaty hipsters just standing around in 80 degree heat for about an hour and a half. When Purity Ring did come out though, it was glorious music. Another problem (and this may have been due to our location right in front of the stage) was that the reverb from the speakers was so magnified that you could just barely hear her wonderful voice. Next, Neon Indian came out and killed it just as well. Played a lot of their hits, although I was disappointed that they didn't play Era Extrana. They almost didn't play Should Have Taken Acid With You until the encore. Near the end, Alan Palomo did a nice little crowd surf (didn't get too far from the stage though), which prompted a couple of brave kids to do the same. Palomo's a small guy (love him for that) but makes up for it with some nice moves on stage. Great show!

The band was so much fun! The opener, Purity Ring, was excellent too.
