This Punky Reggae party in commemoration of Ari Up's work with the Slits and Various performers giving homage was phenomenal. This only happens once it seems we lose our legends - A point brought up by Neneh Cherry was that we should do more to hoor our poets and great souls during their lifetimes definitely rang true, but thi send off wass a bit of everything she stood for and worked on. Eclectic sets by numerous performers embodying the spirit of the diverse cultures that came to appreciate her work, and people of all ages were in attendance for a night to be remember. Mad love to the spirit and work of Ari Up - she and the Slits led the way for many female performers taking to the stage today, and for those to come who will look to the classics for new ground.
