    Absolutely magical

by Aaron on 12/25/23Town Hall - New York

My girlfriend and I adore Neil Gaiman. When we saw he was doing his reading of A Christmas Carol, we knew we had to see him. It was our Christmas gift to each other, and I can’t imagine a better one. Neil has one of the best reading voices out there, and it’s in large part because you can tell how kind he is. The reading was superb: funny, heartfelt, and yes: magical. From the period dress to the candles and fireplace, to the Dickens beard. It was perfect. Town Hall is a beautiful venue. Historical and cozy. We were right in the middle of the center seats, but there wasn’t a bad seat in the house. We will absolutely go again!

One of a kind magical event

It did feel like it was Charles Dickens was reading it himself. My ten year old son and I absolutely loved it.

Gaiman’s Dickens A Christmas Carol Reading

by Daze on 12/22/23Town Hall - New York

The 180th anniversary of the publication of Dickens A Christmas Carol. That is a very specific reading performance celebration. As it happens I really like live events of every type, and Dickens, and Neil Gaiman. A trifecta for me; an excellent experience with people who have similar passions. Wonderful!

    Just Brilliant

by Lola on 12/22/23Town Hall - New York

Gaiman was just glorious…even more fabulous than imagined. He certainly did Dickens proud and then treated us to 2 little gems of his own. The audience was absolutely enthralled, and i have to say it was so lovely seeing that! Seeing an entire theatre of all ages—intelligent, creative, readers! Only in NYC. I was really proud to be there. On the subway home, we overheard a kid and his dad discussing Gaiman’s books. So we started talking about the event, and eventually “Good Omens”…ahhhh. It was a spectacular night!

    A Wonderful Experience!

by theemilyesse on 12/21/23Town Hall - New York

This was a delightful event! They did a great job with the setting and costuming to bring the spirit of the event to life; Molly Oldfield’s introduction was charming and interesting; and Neil read / performed A Christmas Carol brilliantly, with a fun unrelated encore piece at the end. The whole thing was great and so were the feelings it evoked.

    Absolutely delightful!

by Di on 5/30/22Carnegie Music Hall of Oakland - Pittsburgh

The Carnegie Music Hall was perfect for hosting Neil Gaiman. It was small, almost intimate, and upon leaving, walking through the closed museum gave me “Night at the Museum” vibes. Very appropriate considering the last selection he read… As for Mr. Gaiman himself, it was such a privilege to hear him read some of his selections. I love to hear authors read things they’ve written. There’s something about the way they phrase things or stress certain words that sometimes gives meaning you hadn’t noticed. It was especially wonderful hearing things I’d never read. He has such a fabulous sense of humor, and I wished for more time so he could answer more questions. It was wonderful getting to know the man and his work better: why Coraline was written, his favorite museums, at what point in his writing he calls his editor and tells them he can’t continue… It was a fantastic night, and I hope I get to see him again!

The event was great but it started late and ran too long.
