Not a good idea to mix in the comedians

by SmoothPaul on 3/25/24Beacon Theatre - New York

I love Neil DeGrasse Tyson as well as Michio Kaku. But mixing in two comedians with them on stage was a big miss. I would assume that most people that paid for a ticket were hoping to get a night of scientific content. We go that, but mixed in with a few hundred interruptions of attempted jokes and other forms of levity. For me, it ruined the evening, as the jokes weren't funny or entertaining and completely broke up the content in a very awkward and annoying way. It's like mixing ice cream and steak. I like them both, but let one be the entrée and one be the dessert - don't serve them both on the same plate at the same time. Just my two-cents.

    Smart and Funny

by Meli R. on 3/25/24Beacon Theatre - New York

First, I love the Beacon Theatre. It is such a beautiful and well kept up venue. Neil deGrasse Tyson as always is very engaging with the audience. His guests added nuance to the topic, which was quantum computing. It was discussed in a way that the smartest to most unaware person in the room would understand. Tiffany Hadish and Jordan Klepper kept things light and interesting. All in all a fun and educational evening.

Sadly, not what I had hoped for

by Cletus Bouregard III on 3/25/24Beacon Theatre - New York

I had long since wanted to see NGT in person doing his thing and sharing his views of the cosmos. This event was not that. The evening centered around String Theory and Quantum Computing. Michio Kaku, while brilliant, was not what I waited so long to hear. The comic relief added to the presentation detracted from it instead of lightening it. We left when the Q/A began. The venue, as well, was unfortunate. Live and learn. I had envisioned being an audience to Sagan's prodigy. I ended up watching a History Channel special on Quantum Computing with Mystery Science Theatre folks on stage at the same time.

    Good Educational fun

by Carla on 3/24/24Beacon Theatre - New York

The talk was such a good blend of pop culture comedy and quantum computing and well as a physics lessons. The cohosts along with NDT were good at keeping the conversation moving. Overall a very entertaining evening.

    A great and educational show!

by Nick C on 3/24/24Beacon Theatre - New York

I was surprised. It was a a lot of fun to have drinks and watch a panel with different perspectives on quantum mechanics. Different than what I’m used to but a lot of fun!!

    Disappointed

by IJ on 3/23/24Beacon Theatre - New York

It wasn’t a scientific talk at all. It was a ‘comedy’. Idk why that female actress (I don’t know her name) was invited there. She had no clue about science and was just making unfunny jokes. I expected Michio Kaku to talk more about recent interesting inventions/discoveries, but he just kept saying ‘the world is changing’. A 10 minute scientific youtube video would be more informativ than the whole show. I understand that to make the show easy to understand for most people, you should’t get much into details, but this was just a disrespect to science. At least, that actress shouldn’t have been there. Anyway, if your purpose is to see some celebrities and hear jokes, you might enjoy it. But if you are interested in science, you will barely watch for 5 minutes.

    A lot

by Sunny on 3/23/24Beacon Theatre - New York

I was hoping to hear more about stars and planets. Even though topics discussed where different then expected it was done in an interesting way and explained so i could understand. Often times with humor.
