Great venue. Personal, interactive show! Neal came out after the show to meet the audience. Such a great guy.

    Most Memorable

by Geneous on 4/16/18Duck Room at Blueberry Hill - St Louis

An unforgettable evening with one great entertainer. Neal was excellent and the set list was great too. I was in the front row and center. The only thing that could have made it any better is if it would have lasted longer.

Another stroke of Morse genius !!!

by simonia on 5/31/11Jaxx Nightclub - Springfield

I was blown away - again - by the scope of Neal Morse's musical talent and the sincerity of his deep religious faith. You don't have to be a believer to enjoy his multi-faceted Prog sound and get carried away by beautiful melodies such as "It's for you" and Crossing over" , among others. They are surely destined to become Morse classics alongside "I'm willing" and "To feel Him' I thought the audience was somewhat subdued, I guess Northern Virginia is not a hot bed for Prog Rock...they seemed to like the show but lacked enthusiasm, in my view, except for us in the front, row ...it was a blast !!! Thank you Neal, you've done it again and better than ever.

    A rare experience for a veteran concert-goer

by geewowz on 5/27/11Jaxx Nightclub - Springfield

I knew when I saw the annoucement months ago that it would be a show to not miss, even with a 200 mile commute and being on a weeknight. I was still blown away by the energy and musicianship. Eight piece group, including sax, violin and cello when needed, and sometimes just four guitars blasting away in syncopated unison. I missed Spock's Beard at Jaxx ten years ago, and after this show I am even sadder for that. This was only the third show on the tour, so by the time they hit Europe (and hopefully larger audiences) they will be even tighter, if that is even possible.Perhaps they will make a DVD - if so, snap it up!

    Neal Morse- nothing better!

by Ranford on 5/26/11Jaxx Nightclub - Springfield

Why aren't there 10,000 fans at a Neal Morse concert? This is the eternal question concerning prog rock. I wish that many were able to experience the 100% efforts of Neal, who puts his heart, soul and body into his performances. The same goes for his band, from Mike Portnoy on drums and Randy George on bass, to 5 other musicians on violin, guitars, keyboards, cello and sax. Fantastic performace of 3+ hours of music at Jaxx, a small venue in Springfield, VA. Intimate? I was standing 6 feet from Neal as he sang, played keyboards and guitar. If you ever get a chance to see him (a rare treat), don't pass it up. Listen to his fantastic albums and those with Transatlantic, too. Video DVDs are almost like being there.

Neal Morse and band - top notch players.

by musicoles on 5/26/11Jaxx Nightclub - Springfield

Was a great concert. Expected the crowd to be bigger, but to my delight, the setting was pretty intimate for those attending. Neal Morse and band were intense. Got the feeling that they would play with the same intensity whether they were playing for 10 or 10,000. The band mates were all working hard and having fun. Mike Portnoy on drums was a highlight. Eric Brenton and son on guitars was also notable. Sound quality was good and loud, but right for the venue. Neal Morse is a Christian, and the lyrics were very meaningful. We all connected with his message. Will go to see show again when the opportunity comes around.

    Neal is still "The Man"

by notsoswift on 5/26/11Jaxx Nightclub - Springfield

There aren't many composer/performers with Neal Morse's resume, skill, and knack for writing tunes from the catchy to the complex, from the soulful to the riff-oriented. Neal and his band were simply amazing Tuesday night at Jaxx and he attracted a near-capacity crowd of mostly older fans, like me. I went for his music--not necessarily for his message. But both were inspiring. Neal's religious direction has done little to dampen his prog power. The set list was fabulous, including an epic from his 2004 album, "One", called "The Separated Man", which he and his bands have apparently never played live before this tour. When the 3-hour+ show ended, I (grudgingly) went home a happy man. Neal is a must-see!
