    It could've been more organized and it felt like more rehearsals were needed. However, the dance companies' performances were very interesting and enjoyable. Overall, it was a really fun and entertaining program.

    Great entertainent!

    All the dance groups were wonderful. A few mishaps with the musicians just added to the enjoyment. My only critique is that the MC was a bit too wordy and it took an awfully long time to set up in between dance groups. That said. I did enjoy most of the banter and definitely all of the dance groups.

    Wanted to love...but Unfortunate

    by dancelifer on 5/17/13Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

    It's unfortunate, but the "verbal education" part of this program, all but destroyed how much i loved the dance performances. The "promoters" took over and although the information relayed was "nice to hear" I really heard way too much. LITERALLY every single performance, was followed by lights up and more "information" about who made it happen so called "skits" and multiple "edutaining commentary" on why we the audience, should give appreciation for all the hard work that went into making the show possible. Word to the wise, i came because i love dance - but a 3 hour show was exhausting 7:30-10:30pm could have been cut down to 1-1.5 hours TOPS - PLEASE put your information in a booklet or on a website but do NOT make me sit through almost 2 hours of "talking". Half the audience was gone by 9pm. The dance was very good, and some were actually great - edgy and completely ENJOYABLE. Kudos to the dancers!

    Dance=good; talk=not so much

    The professional troupes were wonderful. I had never seen DanceWorks Chicago and they were breathtaking. All the music was a revelation especially the percussionist and the solo violin. I don't usually like tap, however the piece that had choreographed arms(instead of the usual swishing back and forth with the rhythm) was terrific as were the dancers. I like hip-hop and admire the agility of the performers. Mexican Folkloric dance has gorgeous costumes but becomes boring really quickly. I would definitely try something like this again, especially at that price.
