Opening act New York Dolls best thing on tour

by kathcom on 1/1/12Saratoga Springs Performing Arts Center - Saratoga Springs

I grabbed these tickets thinking this would be a great, raucous hair metal show. Sometimes you don't have to be a rabid fan to get caught up in the fun. I bought the tickets mainly to see the New York Dolls, a legendary band, perform live. The Dolls were the best part of the show. It was a pity they were the opening act and had to perform while Poison/Crue fans walked around and shouted to each other while taking their seats. Only a few of us gave them the attention and respect they deserved. I have been a fan of Poison's hair metal since the 80s. That was done in by seeing it live. Loud, lazy playing and insane hero worship of of bedazzled Celebrity Apprentice winner Bret Michaels was a bit much. But a couple songs were played just well enough so I could imagine the studio version in my head. I want to say a big thank you to Motley Crue, whose silly stage set and grinding dancers belied the fact these are grown-ass men, pushed the volume and distortion up so high that I could barely tell what songs they were playing. Even with tissue paper jammed in my ears, it was deafening...and not in a good way. After years of metal concerts, I've come to value what hearing I have left. Anyway, as I was saying, a big thank you goes to the Crue for playing so loudly and badly that my husband and I fled and managed to get out of the parking lot before it jammed up. Incidentally, the further away we got from the arena, the better Crue sounded. The people sitting outside on the grass had the best seats. I'm glad I got to see the Dolls and, in all seriousness, I thank Poison and Motley Crue for taking them on tour. Otherwise, I would not have been able to see them. Maybe they'll play some smaller venues in NYC. I realize how distasteful it is to watch musicians and fans in arrested adolescence. Apparently, some of us are still stuck in the 80s. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just not for me.

by xxlaceyxx on 12/19/11St. Pete Times Fourm - Tampa

I was so excited when I got my tickets to see my favorite band in concert, I was only supposed to be row 7th but somehow at the concert I ended up front row. When the Crue came out it was like an electric shock! They put on an AMAZING show. The pyro was awesome, Tommy's drum solo was crazy, it was the absolute best show of my life! Motley Crue is the best band ever to see live!

    great show!!

by DarlingDarlene on 11/3/11Bridgestone Arena - Nashville

The show was great, they played all their big hits !! they all had plenty of energy and put on a heck of a show. It was a good match up teaming motley crue with Poison to tour together!! It will forever be one of my favorite concerts! I did however, think Poison sounded better then Motley Crue, Nikki's Bass was way too loud and drowned out alot of the music. The stage set up was fantastic, they had plenty of lights and of course girl dancers, along with the infamous drum rollercoaster tommy had. It was very HIGH impact show !

    Heed warning!!!!! Motley Crüe/Poison horrible!!

by Dochight on 10/25/11Bridgestone Arena - Nashville

Entire concert was a bore. Band members in both bands performed with a "been there - done that" attitude. Very low energy during the entire show and it was very obvious none of them wanted to be there. I paid for the VIP tickets and that was a huge disappointment as well. My merchandise included with the VIP package wasn't even shipped by the vendor until a month after the show!!! All around poor use of time and money.

Greates Rock show of the year

by Sportyharley on 10/13/11Riverbend Ohio - Cincinnati

Poison was unbelieveable we have seen them headline all their shows so we wondered how it would be for them not to headline. ...they kicked ass. wished they could play more. but as a headliner crue blew them off the stage. i cried, laughed rocked out and then banged my husband all the way home sweet home like it was 1986 all over again. Loved it. Thanks for one hellava night of heavy metal rock.
