Exquisitely beautiful and fun – Sleeping Beauty

by giddalti on 5/9/18Sleeping Beauty - Sikeston

My neighbor and I saw the ballet, Sleeping Beauty, in Sikeston, Missouri, performed by the Moscow Festival Ballet. The ballet was beautiful. The dancers were so super talented. The music was great. The costumes were gorgeous. The lighting was magical. The whole evening was exquisite. The ballet company was so nice. After the show, many of the performers posed in costume with audience members. We were enchanted by the whole performance.

    NicePerformance

    by Rishi1 on 4/27/18Jesse Auditorium - Columbia

The even was very nice, however we were unfortunately sitting close to some children that talked the entire time. It was very disruptive and interfered with our enjoyment. This was clearly not an event for children under 10 since they are to young to understand the non spoken storylines.

    Swan Lake was wonderful!

by Vreeland on 4/9/18Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

What a joy to be able to see a fine quality ballet production 5 minutes from home - no NYC traffic, parking or prices! We find that eating dinner before a performance in one of the many restaurants in Englewood assures us of getting a parking spot directly across the street from the theater. Bergen PAC is to be applauded for bringing this beautiful production of Swan Lake to the suburbs! Granted, the stage is small, but that did not take away from the ballet. The dancers were wonderful and the costumes were dazzling. Imagine my surprise two days later when I received a Viking Cruise catalog and saw the exact costumes on a page devoted to a trip to Russia, down to the headpieces on the women! The Moscow Festival Ballet version of Swan Lake was perfect!

    Amateurish

by YouOverThere on 3/17/18George Mason Center for the Arts - Fairfax

I've seen a number of renditions of "Swan Lake", including by some of the world's leading companies (Mariinsky Ballet, American Ballet Theatre). The performance by the Moscow Festival Ballet at the George Mason University Center for the Arts just didn't measure up; in fact I've seen better ballet performances by teenage students from high-level dance academies. The choreography was greatly simplified compared to the other presentations that I've attended. In particular, the man who danced the role of the prince seemed to have very limited skills (leading me to conclude that he was chosen for the part because he was the tallest man in the company). Unlike just about every other production of "Swan Lake", this version had a different ballerina dancing the role of the black swan.

by Natahal on 1/28/18Stephens Auditorium - Ames

We go to Russian ballets often, whenever they come to the area. They never disappoints. And this one was amazing as well. Great performance, amazing dancing techniques, great costumes. The professionalism of the dancers exceeded even my expectations. Wonderful job! Bravo!
