Miss Saigon At Signature Theatre Tickets

This was my first time seeing a show at Signature, though I had heard of the theatre for many years prior. I went to see this show because of a number of connections to the production, but centrally because of Diana Huey. Having met her in NYC a short time prior, I was subsequently told by numerous friends in the theatre world that she was a sight to be seen. She was everything she had been built up to be and more. And the theatre and her costars made her radiance that much more compelling. Without some prodding I would not have made the trip down from Philly to see the show, but now I will go out of my way to see anything she is in.

Wonderful in every way. Amazing acting and singing, especially by the Engineer and Chris. And Kim was absolutely phenomenal!!

Staging, acting all amazing! So surprised to see such high level from such a small stage-wow!

For a small theater Signature did a superb job of portraying all the significant scenes of the storyline, particularly the helicopter scene of the troops leaving Saigon. Great imagination that brought the feeling and sounds of a helicopter hovering over the embassy. Lead actress playing "Kim" was extremely talented, with a rich voice and ability to carry all of her songs. The "Engineer" was perfectly cast, and played the role to the hilt!

Miss Saigon is one of my favorite shows. Talented cast, except for the lady who played Ellen, who was awful, without talent and kept displaying inappropriate emotions for the scene. Only other complaint is that the venue is very, very small for the prices they charge for shows. They are charging as much as a national tour cast or Broadway for a show and theater 1/3 the size and with a local cast. Kim was fantastic, as were John and the Engineer. Amazing set as well. I recommend never sitting in front row - too small a venue

This show was amazing from start to finish. Excellent singing, acting, scenery, music, lighting, everything. I've seen this show on Broadway in London, New York and at the Kennedy Center in DC. This was just as good, if not better, than all of them. Love the smallish venue. Stunning!!

Wanted to go for years and I am glad I did this time around. Took my daughter to it for her birthday, she did see it in New York years before. Had the CD and love the music and it had a special place during my time over in Saigon in 1975. As well being over seas a number of time and understood what happens to vets away from home and then coming back home and facing close to what happens to Marines, Soldiers, and other military service men. The movie had something for all of us. Most likely even today military personnel's. The seats were great and the actors play the part as they were them. Great job players. The small boy had the best part, not saying a word but left an impact for the audience to know what a child has to live through and never ask for the kind of left given to them. Once again great job.

Overall it was good. The vocals were great. The band was superb. The engineer hasnt lost his stride. The only part and its a big part is the portrayal of love between Chris and Kim. When Chris sings "Why God" and the scenes after I didn't get the depth of love. It might just be me.

The actors and singers were great. But the direction and interpretation of the story was pretty depressing and lacked heart. All of the characters were displayed as selfish and self absorbed. Kim was the only one that came off as sympathetic but even she started to sound like she was sacrificing herself to get back at others that would try to dictate her child's life. Chris and Ellen were turned into completely selfish an unbelievably self absorbed. Their only objections to tam were that having Kim around would make their life uncomfortable. And the engineer did not come off as dreaming of a new life. They seemed to highlight his greedy selfish side. In other adaptations and in the original musical, the characters were all much more varied and layered. Even Thuy could be sympathetic by showing his helplessness within the Vietcong. Anyway it just seemed as if this interpretation made everyone plot line and character darker by taking away any heart in the characters. Maybe that was the point but I past miss Saigon shows my takeaway was that the situations were bad and the characters were essentially good trying to do the best they could. In this one it felt like they had bad situations but they also made bad choices and almost deserved their situations.
