MINNIE DRIVER IN CONCERT:

The multi-talented Minnie Driver is best known for her beloved film and television roles, but lately it's her prowess as a singer-songwriter that's causing box office buzz. At her live shows Driver brings loads of charisma and cool confidence to the stage, serenading fans with a voice that's equal parts sultry and soothing. She rounds out toe-tapping originals like the bluesy "Mockingbird" and the folksy "Stars & Satellites" with covers of well-known artists like Stevie Wonder and Neil Young, and the result is an impressively diverse concert experience. With her dynamic voice, down-to-earth personality, and sparkling sense of humor, Driver always treats fans to intimate and heartfelt performances on her must-see tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Minnie Driver leads a double life as a prolific singer-songwriter and as the Academy Award-, Golden Globe-, and Emmy-nominated actress best known for her roles in "Good Will Hunting", "The Riches", and "About A Boy". Driver grew up in London and Barbados and earned a drama degree from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She began her music career as a singer for the London-based jazz group Puff, Rocks and Brown, which scored a development deal with Island Records. Driver went on to sign with EMI and Rounder Records and in 2004 she released her solo debut album Everything I've Got In My Pocket. Her sophomore effort, 2007's Seastories, included instrumentation by Ryan Adams and his band the Cardinals as well as backing vocals by Liz Phair. In 2014 she released her highly anticipated third album Ask Me To Dance, comprised of cover songs by artists including Neil Young, Elliot Smith, John Prine, and The Killers.

Falling in love has never been easier....

by Generaleigh on 9/16/14The Canyon - Agoura Hills

I was surprised at the different genres that Minnie performed....she sang Fly Me To The Moon in such a sultry and soulful manner it makes your heart melt. Other songs were a mix of pop, soul, and a little country sound thrown in. The band made good use of varied instruments to accentuate her wonderful vocals. She is glamorous, cute, and sexy all in one package and when she sings she can be subtle and then turn up the power. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and wished it could have gone on for another set....and I really wish she would have sung "Learn to be Lonely" from Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack.....a beautiful song that she completely owns....

    Minnie Driver Rocks!

by asaru302 on 9/16/14The Canyon - Agoura Hills

I've seen Minnie three times now and her show at the Canyon Club did not disappoint. She is equal parts bluesy, folksy, pop and humorous. She is backed by an incredible band of musicians, and i have to say i'm partial to the slide guitar player! You forget that she's a famous actress, and instead realize what an accomplished singer and performer she is. She's become one of my favorites. This night she played several songs from her upcoming album, Ask Me To Dance. Her music is not meant to blow one away, rather its meant to sweep you up in its mesmerizing tones and subtleties.
