MINI MANSIONS IN CONCERT:
LA-based indie rockers Mini Mansions make slick, synth-laden pop tunes full of Beatles-esque melodies, sparkling guitar arpeggios, and crisp '80s drum machine rhythms. Fusing these elements is bassist Zach Dawes, best known for his fretwork with Queens of the Stone Age, whose snaking riffs provide the backbone of the band's driving sound. Rounding out the lineup are singer Tyler Parkford and drummer Michael Shuman, whose stand-up drumming always makes for a fun visual at the band's shows. Whether they're evoking California summers with the relaxed lilt of "Any Emotions" (feat. Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys) or riling fans up with the hypersonic tempo and wildly modulating synths of "Death Is a Girl", Mini Mansions always treat concertgoers to a dynamic, dance-worthy concert experience on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Mini Mansions was formed in 2009 by Queens of the Stone Age bassist Zach Dawes while the band was on a break. Dawes linked up with drummer Tyler Parkford and drummer Michael Shuman and began writing material, and in 2010 Mini Mansions released their self-titled debut album to widespread critical acclaim. The band's unique sound and high-energy live shows quickly earned them a fanbase, leading Dawes to continue working on the project while remaining a full-time member of Queens of the Stone Age. Mini Mansions continued to generate buzz in 2012 with their EP ...Besides… before Dawes' schedule with QOTSA resulted in a period of relative quiet in 2013. They returned with a vengeance in 2014 with the high-octane single "Death Is a Girl", a sparkling synth pop romp that set a promising tone for their highly anticipated 2015 sophomore album The Great Pretenders.

MiniMansions is one of the most high energy bands around. Energy, fun, and loud--these are the words that best describe their show.
When Mini Mansions first took the stage, I had no idea as to the amount of jamming those three guys were capable of. Their debut studio album was much more subdued. Thoroughly enjoyed the show, from start to finish, as the performance was crisp and engaging.
