Another amazing show by Mingo Fishtrap at HOB Dallas! They always seem to be having a good time while on stage and perform as if it is the first show of their tour. Loads of energy, incredibly tight musicianship, and the sound at The Cambridge Room was excellent!
Mingo brought the funk..the groove..the soul once again Friday night. Energy level, tight music, great sound and lights. Never been disappointed in their performance.
I go to quite a few live shows in the area. I don't go to large venue shows often. I've lived in Dallas 9 years now and I can comfortably say this was the best live show I've attended yet. The band has an energy about them that makes you really get into it.
Excellent concert. Rock/Blues and New Orleans Funk rolled into a great evening! They are a lot of fun and put on a great show! A must see for all who like good music!
They are always a killer show. Despite being short a bass player, Dane killed it on keys. Just ask Roger.
The band was great, but the audio guy sucked. Small room with everything cranked. Everything washed together and it was hard to hear vocals. In that size of room, keep it simple. Let me hear the players, not a wash of sound.
I could see how this band would be very enjoyable. The frontman is a great vocalist and performer although his guitar playing was too low in the mix to hear, as was the keyboards. The mix was super loud with the kick drum dominating - it was so loud and distorting that it did not sound like a drum! Had to leave early. Should have brought earplugs! And I like loud music!
This group is so on top of their game. We had the best time - it was hard to try and sit still (so we didn't). They just keep getting better and better and they were already the best!!! Look forward to seeing them again and will go anywhere they play near here. They pull the crowd in and you cannot resist. Fantastic Concert!!! (again!!!)
This was one of the best bands I've ever seen. All musicians extremely talented. The keyboard player, a young man - played as though he had been born in a previous generation. When they listed their influences, it was like reading a list of my favorite albums: James Brown, Otis Redding, Al Green, Tower of Power, lots of Memphis, Muscle Shoals, Stax influence. Soul and Funk music at it's very best. They had many wonderful original songs. My personal favorite is "Fo Sho". They also did some amazing covers, including "I've Been Loving You Too Long" by Otis Redding and "People Say" by the Meters. I'm hooked. If you have the chance to see them, don't miss it.
We loved every minute with these talented musicians! Two sets and an encore--we definitely got our money's worth!
