About
Hailing from Caracas, Venezuela, Mikel Erentxun is a Spanish rock musician of Basque descent. Initially part of the group Duncan Dhu, he embarked on his solo career in 1992. Erentxun has released 16 albums as a solo artist and is known for covering songs like The Smiths' "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" ("Esta luz nunca se apagará") and Morrissey's "Everyday Is Like Sunday" ("Todo es Igual Siempre"). Throughout his career, he has collaborated with notable artists such as English musician Mark Gardener from the band Ride, American guitarist Robert Quine, English drummer Pete Thomas, English singer/songwriter Lloyd Cole, American singer/songwriter Matthew Sweet, and drummer/producer Fred Maher. Erentxun has been nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards for Best Pop/Rock Album for 2015’s Corazones and 2017’s El Hombre Sin Sombra. In 2021, Erentxun received the national Ondas Award for Lifetime Achievement.
