    Crowds Embarrassing

by KCSpartan on 7/3/18Crossroads - Kansas City

Shows were exceptional. The crowds for the main stage so small I felt embarrassed for our community. The artist showed up (mostly - Greta Van Fleet) just wish the fans had as well.

    A big misfire

    by DoubleD2284 on 7/3/18Crossroads - Kansas City

MOTM Fest 2018 was a big big miss this year. It was my first time attending this event and had heard good things. It feels safe to say that after this experience it would take a special headliner for me to consider going back. My problems with the event aren’t related to the productions or venues, as the venues chosen are fantastic, and the quality of the sound was great. My issues are with the organizers of this event who seemed to drop the ball at every opportunity. I’ll start with the dropping out of Greta Ven Fleet. I don’t blame MOTM for them dropping out, that is outside of their control. But the organizers of the event made no effort to inform fans that it happened. Personally I wasn’t upset by them not performing, I don’t love the band, but individuals in my party drove 5 hours to see them. The only efforts MOTM gave to inform fans was a small sign on 8.5”x11” printer paper at the entrance explaining the act wouldn’t be performing. Sure they updated the schedule on their app/website, but made no effort to inform patrons that there was a change, or to explain the change. On the front of the website under Latest News was “Tickets now on Sale”, their twitter account said nothing about a cancellation. It wasn’t until we found Greta Van Fleets twitter page that we knew they wouldn’t show. Awful, just awful communication to fans of the event related to one of the top billed acts. However it got worse. They replaced Greta Van Fleet with another act, we arrive to the show in time to catch this act, instead we see people waiting outside in 95+ degree heat, or crammed into Grinders waiting for an act that would never perform. An hour of nothing. No announcement from MOTM, no update on their twitter, nothing. We find out later that the act pulled out hours early due to concerns about their equipment, again outside of MOTM’s control... But they could have communicated it in many ways and granted fans an opportunity to catch a different act at a different venue... Or at least a chance to cool down somewhere. Negligent all around. Lastly whomever organized these lineups clearly had not listened to the acts they were scheduling. There was no cohesion in music leading to confusing line ups. Most noticeable was Pink Royal followed by Lung at the Record Bar. Both acts were incredibly different to the point that when Lung came on the room just looked confused. Give some thought to your line ups guys. I’m not saying one of them shouldn’t have been on the bill but they should be arranged in a way that makes some musical sense. All in all the organizers of this event don’t appear to know what to do with their success as it continues to grow in size with each year, leading to a very frustrating experience in 2018.

    Laaaaaaaame

by HoldenMcNeal on 7/3/18Crossroads - Kansas City

The only bands I came to see cancelled, probably because there was no comfort from the 100+ heat, so planning for that as an event company would’ve been nice for the people paying to come see these bands. Huuuuuuge let down. Also, Saturday got rained on big time, and there were no canopies to weather the storm underneath. Will not be going back.

    Middle of the map Friday

Sadly the band most people bought tickets to see canceled. We were really looking forward to seeing Greta Van Fleet. Overall great outdoor venue.

    Too many bands canceled

    by mynickname89567454 on 7/2/18Crossroads - Kansas City

Bands cancelled day of/day before event. Nobody was informed or refunded. Seems like this festival isn't very legit.

The Crossroads need to learn to plan!

    by Chloe127 on 7/2/18Crossroads - Kansas City

The venue let us in at the correct time 5:45 and the bands were supposed to start an hour later. Cut to three hours later in 100 degree weather a band finally comes on stage. No one told us anything so we were just stuck waiting in the sun. 2/4 bands actually played. It was the worst experience ever and I wished I could have gotten my money back. The only thing that made up for it was the lovely security guard checking up on us and giving us water.

late cancel by Greta and downhill from there

by gripple on 7/2/18Crossroads - Kansas City

came from Omaha to see Greta Van Fleet w/ VIP tickets- they cancelled shortly - Thursday pm?- before day of show; no replacement band, VIP section was a joke as GA was right there with us at the Grinder venue; venue was also changed? overall a huge bust and would love a refund but know ticketmaster is well protected from having to make such a move
