The show opened with a local band called Sweat; which did an excellent job of pumping up and entertaining the crowd prior to the headliner Metric taking the stage. Sweat had a great sound and took time after the show to meet and greet the fans, sign merch, answer questions ect., all in all I thought they did a great job and deserve a favorable mention in this review.
Once Metric took the stage the theatre exploded, Emily Haines does an amazing job with vocals and is high energy throughout the show. James, Joshua, and Joules are all fantastic musicians, which meld into one of the greatest musical experiences you will ever have. I have been to many shows in my lifetime, and I am not sure if it was the small theatre which allowed everyone to be up close to the bands, the acoustics, or the sound and energy metric produces, hell, it might be all of that combined. That being said, this was probably the best show I have ever been a part of. Everyone was having a great time and really got into the show. The setlist chosen was basically a greatest hits compilation for metric, with every song being something, if you are a fan of metric, could sing along to.
At the end of the night, Metric is one of the greatest bands in the world, and I for one am glad I got to witness them live in my lifetime. I went to this show with my wife and daughter (it was a gift for my daughter's birthday) and it is a show that we will remember and cherish for forever. If you are ever on the fence about whether or not to go see metric live, do yourself a favor and go, you won't regret it.
