by Jpsmithco2 on 8/25/15Riverdome at Horseshoe Casino & Hotel - Bossier City - Bossier CityMel was one of my favorites to listen to, along with the Statler Brothers, as i was growing up. He still sounded very good for 83! Glad we went and recommend anyone to catch him if you can!

Rating: 5 out of 5 Mel Tillis is a Class Act!
by Trish2688 on 8/25/15Riverdome at Horseshoe Casino & Hotel - Bossier City - Bossier CityTo be 83 years "young", Mr. Tillis is still a powerful performer. He got straight to performing and didn't do a lot of filler. My husband and I also thoroughly enjoyed his son, Sonny Boy, who did a couple of songs as well. It would have been PERFECT if Pam had shown up! The only negative is that as soon as the concert was over, the usher told us to get up and exit the Riverdome. I have crowd anxiety and it is difficult for me to be in tightly crowded situations, such as when crowds leave a concert, so we usually just sit patiently and wait until the crowd has dispersed. But despite being advised of this, the usher was unsympathetic and made us get up and leave anyway. I made it without an anxiety attack, but found it RUDE and INSENSITIVE.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Mel Tillis Still Brings The It
by StratFan89 on 3/29/15Effingham Performance Center - EffinghamHis voice took a couple of songs to warm up, but once he was.... He was cooking. I hope to be so energetic when I'm 82. He's a star and he still shines bright with good vocals, funny jokes, and a great band in the current Statesiders. His son Mel Jr was fantastic as well. Both of them are talented individuals with kind personalities.
Rating: 2 out of 5 Sadly, the show was poor.
by StMorg on 3/29/15Effingham Performance Center - EffinghamI really wanted this to be a good show, but unfortunately Mel was not in top form. His voice was not very good. He is a fine showman and interacted well with the audience, handing out picks, CDs, a cookbook and more. In fact, he seemed to not really want to sing. The Statesiders are a terrific band, though, and their rendition of Orange Blossom Special was terrific.
