The Vogel in Red Bank was a great venue for the Meshell Ndegeocello performance. The size and intimacy of the venue had a relaxed feel and reminded me of the other jazz venues like the Blue Note in NY. Ms. Mdegeocello's performance was excellent! I've seen her once before in the early 2000s at BB Kings in NY and this show to me was even better. The band and especially her background/co-singer really complimented her well and I wasn't ready for it to end. I hope to catch another of her shows soon.
The entire event, the stage was dark and you couldn't see the performers. The music was nice, but I don't understand why no lights - very disappointing
My only regret was that the stage was too dark. I understand the bright lights, a little light would have been right on time.... I had a blast
My wife & I did not enjoy this show the concert. Sorry the entire concert was in the dark!!!!!!!!! Never got a chance to see anyone on the stage very disappointed
The music was good, but the entire concert there were no stage lights on. It was not as enjoyable for me. Seeing someone live to me it’s about the music and seeing how much the artist is into what they are playing. Eye contact and interaction with the audience is part of what makes it fun.
My husband and I drove 4 hours away to go see Meshell, but we really didnt see her. I'm not sure if she requested dim lighting? But if we cant snap flash photos of her , how are we going to get good pictures of her? Everyone complained that the lighting was terrible. Music was on point!! I saw her at other concerts and they had full blasted lights on stage. It was soo disappointing that we drove 4 hours away to go see one of my favorite R&B artist in the DARK??? That is why I gave it 3 stars. If she even turn up the lights for a good 20 mintutes, that would of been fine, but the venue did nothing.
Too dark, the artist seemed like she was depressed. I drove too far for a funeral instead of a concert.
Great show short but sweet. I kinda wish she performed some of her classics but I love that she sung her last cover album and that I listen to it often so I was up to speed. Great show
It was such pleasure to have Ms. Ndegeocello play in such an intimate venue. It was a great opportunity to interact with her live and through her music which is always so soul stirring. I loved that she covered her new material of reinterpretations of '80s R&B and funk. Hopefully she be back in LA soon!
