Great event. I really wanted to see the Floor Lords. I waited all night. After Marty spoke spoke, everyone left, so did I. Marty was great. I just missed the Floor Lords.
This was an awesome experience ! Met nice people & great opportunity to share this special time with the city of Boston in welcoming new Mayor Marty Walsh ! This was my first Inauguration Ball ; I enjoyed it very much.
I thought the evening was an Amazing evening. We had a wonderful time. I have to say the Hynes Center did a wonderful job on the Mayors event. . The atmosphere could not of been better. Your staff should be commend they also were incredible. Polite and very knowledgeable of what was going on and right on target with everything that I was aware of. Thank you for a wonderful evening. And we will do it again in four more years!
Unfortunately, I left at 10:15 PM and still Marty Walsh had not shown up. I guess it didn't take long for him to be seduced by the VIPs in the rooms where plated meals were served and where he spent the evening until he (finally)showed up to the large ballroom where ordinary people paid $35 for finger food. Not a good early showing for our new mayor...
I had never been at this type of event before; the Hynes is huge; and the staff was so courteous and helpful! Everything ran like clockwork. The 3 stages, the music, and the amazing food and drink. I still yearn for more of those little shephard's pies and the cookies? Just wonderful!
The entertainment was great; the new Mayor was even better. One of the best events I have been to in a long time.
My friends and I arrived early, as we were excited about seeing Marty Walsh and the various bands. The musicians did not disappoint. Blue Man Group was good too. However, there were nowhere near enough tables and chairs for folks to sit and eat, and a bottle of water cost $4.75, on top of the $35 ticket. But we were there to see Boston's new mayor. We waited, and waited, from before 7pm to about 10:20pm, when we joined the throng making an exit from the Hynes. Word got around that the real Marty Party was going on upstairs, a VIP affair. We checked, and sure enough, you couldn't even get on the escalator without having your name on a list. So Marty, shame on you for going high hat in less than 24 hours and being so rude to your supporters!
What an honor to be a part of the celebration! Best of luck to Martin, his family and his staff. Go MARTY!!!!
Entrance staff was very polite and helpful. Close access to the MBTA allowed for public transportation use. Crowd was a good draw, although I am disappointed I missed Steve Sweeney because I was networking!
