Iarla O' Lionaird's otherworldly vocals were transportive, Martin Hayes's violin playing was inspired and the rest of the Masters were equally as fantastic too! I just wish there had been more of Iarla's singing, perhaps with a piano accompaniment, in addition to the other brilliant musicians.
I'm not an Irish music expert, but I am an educated musician. The talent on stage was par excellence. It was a treat to see traditional music preserved and respected. The audience was not nearly as large as it should have been -- but for a a Sunday afternoon it did have it's fair share of sophisticated and appreciative listeners.
Always an honor to watch such exemplary musicians. Loved the casual "announced from the stage" style.
Each artist was a master of their craft. Stunning musicianship in evidence. The sean nos singing was the best I have ever experienced. Mairtin O'Connor's box playing demonstrated incredible dexterity. The interaction between Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill is magical. David Power's skillful soulful playing of the uilleann pipes was in evidence. His ability to "slide" notes was truly amazing.
Everyone of these musicians were awesome. They played with such passion and love for their music. It was truly inspiring.
