Out with the old in with the new

by KurtLeeZiglar on 9/12/18Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

Mark kozelek's live show has changed over the years. If you are looking to see him play old songs, look elsewhere. But if you are looking for a visceral, intense and engaging performance from a great artist look no further. He mostly plays songs in his newer stream of consciousness style, and while I had my reservations going to the show (I am a bigger fan of the older stuff) it ended up being an incredible experience. Great backing band and great performance by the Koz. He even did an impromptu song he wrote about philadelphia before the show that was very beautiful and touching.

Mark Kozelek does not want to be on stage

by oldmovies on 10/10/13Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

His voice is haunting, his songs gorgeous, but Mark Kozelek gave a terrible performance at Music Hall of Williamsburg. He basically performed in the dark, he complained about the light, the cold, the audience being "restless." He clearly hates performing and he took it out on the crowd.

    Changed my life...

by Anonymous on 10/3/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

It was one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life. That voice...his guitar. Nothing compares to seeing Mark Kozelek live.

    Worst show

by Jabrams29 on 10/3/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

This show was far too serious for a Saturday night in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Pretentious, nasty people in the crowd and a boring set to boot. I never realized how crappy his lyrics are until I honed in on them out of sheer boredom. At least I got a case of the giggles which made me feel something. Seated shows at Williamsburg Music Hall? Weird and annoying. I felt like I was at an assembly in the high school auditorium and wasn't allowed to talk! Awful, awful. The only saving grace (other than the ability to go sit downstairs and watch the show from a comfortable couch) was the AMAZING opening act, Owen Ashworth (Advanced Base). Great lyrics, interesting work and definitely an interesting guy.

Mark Kozelek just keeps getting better

by sputnik3 on 10/3/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

I've seen Mark Kozelek live four times now, and this was his best performance yet! He seemed more relaxed, and he was funnier than ever. I also feel like he just keeps improving as a guitarist, and his voice was amazing as always.

    Perfect Mark Kozelek

by palacemuse on 10/2/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

This was exactly the type of show a Mark Kozelek fan hopes for. He played for a long time. He played a few classics, but stuck mostly to new material. There was feistiness and banter. His playing was phenomenal. We loved it.

    Really?

by NCPI on 11/9/11Aladdin Theater - Portland

Maybe he used to be good but his show @ the Alladin sucked. One song after another that sounded exactly the same....asked the crowd what they wanted to hear after insulting them numerous times but then didn't want to play what was requested except a crappy encore cover of 'Send in the Clowns'. Glad I at least didn't pay too much for that show. Ugh.
