    Marin County Fair

    by Melianne83 on 6/30/17Singles - Terra Linda

I could hardly wait to have fun and reconnect with my inner child and get away from the madness of office visits and visitors. I don't have any pets so I don't know if I should beware of Pet Owners. I can hardly wait to see them though and perhaps even milk a real live living Cow! OMG Marin County and their bronzed shiny chains. Dear God let there be nice red candy apples and real root beer floats and ofcourse delicious popcorn and fresh Cotton Candy. And hopefully a better decent smoking area. I really hope to enjoy this years fireworks. Have fun everybody I know my wallet wont instead I will keep in mind that atleast I will try not to miss out. Goodbye.

    Toots was tops!

by davisprof on 7/8/11Marin County Fairgrounds - SAN RAFAEL

We are avid county fair goers but this was our first visit to the Marin County Fair. We loved it. It was very family friendly with excellent security and lots of fun things to see. We mainly went to see the ageless Toots and the Maytals. They put on a great show for one of the most enthusiastic audiences in memory. Lots of fun!

    Love the Marin County fair!

by SanRafaelmomof2 on 7/6/11Marin County Fairgrounds - SAN RAFAEL

I have 2 little ones (age 2 and 5) and we love the animals, the arts and crafts and, of course, the carnival and food! We go in the morning at 11, then go home at about 2 (about 3 miles away) for a bath and nap time, then we come back around 6 and stay through the fireworks. It takes us about 30 minutes to get out of the parking lot after the fireworks. We just plan on it and don't stress about it. I've been following this routine for 3 years, and it works great for us. The only drawback is the heat, but we miss a lot of it by leaving mid-day. They have a baby station at the West end of the fair, near the fine arts pavilion that is just fantastic, a real asset to the fair for families with little ones. A quiet, calm place to nurse and/or change a baby.

I brought ticket in advance from ticketmaster and it save my time to go through the gate. I love this Fair. My 14 years boy enjoys the rides, Chinese performance and funnel cake. I like the art, the corn and rides. It is really suitable for whole family to enjoys a day inside a place. I really recommend other people to enjoy a happy family day inside.

    Indescribable.

by MelChama on 7/6/11Marin County Fairgrounds - SAN RAFAEL

That was the first fair I've ever gone to, and I have to say, you will absolutely not be disappointed. I really went to this fair because I heard about some acrobats, and so I decided to take a look. The show was breath-taking. It was completely worth the long car drive and wait outside under the scorching hot sun. They were amazing! The Chinese acrobats was definitely a great show, and I will come back next year to watch it, if it will still be there. The booths were nicely organized and was of a great variety. Although I did not buy anything due to my own preferences, it was an amazing sight to see almost everything put out there. Food and cold drinks were available around every corner, and it was reassuring to see sheriffs walking around patrolling. With this, I conclude my review.... Go!

We had a blast at the Marin County Fair

by HappyFairGoer on 7/6/11Marin County Fairgrounds - SAN RAFAEL

Our family had a great time at the Marin County Fair! It was a our first time attending, and we will definitely return next year. The kids really enjoyed the free carnival rides and animal exhibits. The food was also reasonably priced compared to other County Fairs. We also enjoyed the Pointer Sisters concert and the fireworks. The eight hours we were there flew by, and was so much fun.

Great stuff - too many people

by WillfromSF on 7/6/11Marin County Fairgrounds - SAN RAFAEL

Given the price of about $15 it's hard to find fault with the Fair. But that's part of the problem - too many people for not enough capacity. The Chinese acrobats performed 3 times a day in the 870 seat Marin Veterans theatre, but there must have been 10,000 people there that day (Sunday 7/3) so only a relatively few got to see them. However, you'd wait in line for a half hour and still wouldn't get in. Surely they could have told people in line past a certain point that they were wasting their time standing in the 95 degree heat, but they didn't so thousands of wasted hours right there. The pig races were cute but you couldn't see them run for more than a couple of seconds each race (there were 4-5 races). Plenty of food. A good jazz band, not publicized, so a nice surprise. The bridge stuff was interesting. We were going to see the Pointer Sisters but wimped out after several hours in the heat. People were "reserving" seats three hours ahead by putting sweaters over chairs even though the rules (not well displayed) said you could not do that. No doubt many arguments would ensue later. So management of the crowd rules could have been better.
