About

MANDOLIN ORANGE IN CONCERT:

Country folk duo Mandolin Orange combines unadorned melodies, simple chords, and no-frills instrumentation to arrive at an honest, emotional sound that's bigger than the sum of its parts. The pair's warm harmonies, poignant lyrics, and delicate mandolin and fiddle playing imbue songs like "Waltz About Whiskey" and "One More Down" with a tenderness and authenticity that never fail to move fans at their intimate live shows. Whether they're performing as a duo or playing with their talented backing band, Mandolin Orange always mesmerize and inspire with their heartfelt sets on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

North Carolina-based duo Mandolin Orange formed in 2009 after Andrew Marlin and Emily Franz met at a local jam session in Chapel Hill. Their shared interest in gospel, folk, and bluegrass influenced their unique country folk sound, and in 2010 they made their debut with the hushed, introspective album Quiet Little Room. They added a bassist and a drummer for their 2011 sophomore album Haste Make, rounding out their sound without compromising the delicate vibe they established on their first album. Since then they've appeared at festivals throughout the US and shared bills with luminaries like Roseanne Cash and Chatham County Line. In 2013 they released their third album This Side of Jordan to extensive critical praise, and they continue to generate buzz with their unforgettable performances on tour.

    Watch House

by Neecy on 9/10/21Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

It was a wonderful experience and loved the encore tribute to Nancy Griffith. I loved the concept of the lighting for the performance but the most enjoyable performance was the one the artists came closer to the audience outside of the circle of lights. The circle of lights did create a halo effect but the movement of the lights uncomfortably blinded the audience. The music and musicians were enjoyable, personable and talented. Thank you for a wonderful night of music.

    Couldn’t Even Transfer Tickets

by Disappointed on 9/6/21Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

I love Watchouse and was excited to see a show at the Ryman but due to some covid issues wasn’t able to travel to Nashville to see the show. I wanted to sell or even give away the tickets to some local friends, but Ticketmaster kept the sell and transfer buttons greyed out. So I had to eat 3 tickets and the got 3 less audience members

    MO is better

by Papa Goose on 9/6/21Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

We liked the sound of Mandolin Orange better than Watchhouse. Watchhouse is beginning to sound and look more contemporary and less folk. The lights were a distraction and we would loose the keyboard. Over all it was a good show. The writing is still fantastic.

    Watchhouse at Ryman

by KatS on 9/6/21Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

This was my first time at the Ryman Auditorium and my first time seeing Watchhouse/Mandolin Orange in concert. Getting to the Ryman, finding parking, and getting through the check-in process were very easy. The show itself was so good. I was with my son, the person who introduced me to this band. We both loved the selection of songs and the performance. Two big thumbs up!

I attended the Mandolin Orange show at Moody Theater ACL Live show. It was fantastic to say the least. This group is definitely on the rise and the sky is the limit. The sound quality at the moody theater was on point and the performance was one to remember. Mandolin Orange brings a sound like no other along with amazing lyrics. Always a treat to see them live. If you have not taken the time to see a MO show check them out!!!!

    I Feel Blessed

by BarrenGround on 1/21/20Stiefel Theatre - Salina

I drove 190 miles each way to see Mandolin Orange. I think the performance/venue were a PERFECT MATCH for each other! Very good performance! I was surprised they still share an acoustic guitar which is very efficient at their level. Emily really gets into her music, swaying. Kate Roudy, their opening act, really contributed to the night with style. She DEFINITELY deserves her opportunity to “go out on the road” and present her skill.
