About

Mako in Concert

Somehow intimate and anthemic at the same time, the music of Mako is the stuff club dreams are made of. Coming out of San Diego via Los Angeles, New York, and Ann Arbor, these house tunes really are a vision of digital America.

Although now the project's sole member is Alex Seaver, DJ Logan Light was an integral part of Mako's inception and first run of hits. After Light attended Columbia University and the University of Michigan, graduating with a degree in communications in 2011, he borrowed money from his parents to buy turntables. Before long, he was working the party circuit, honing his game, and opening for house luminaries like Zedd, Tiesto, and Avicii.

Seaver came along on a very different road, attending Juilliard on a music scholarship and playing classical music with concert musicians. After graduating, he attended an ASCAP scholarship workshop in Los Angeles to learn composing for film and television. The two artists met in 2001 at the Electric Daisy Carnival festival and decided to work together.

Both great musicians in their own right, Light and Seaver vibed heavily as a team and quickly signed to Interscope Records, where they recorded with the likes of Avicii, Sander van Doorn, R3hab, and DubVision.

Mako's first release — "Into the Light," featuring Sander van Doorn and DubVision — reached No. 3 on Beatport's Top 100 chart, and its music video has scored more than a million views. In Belgium, the track charted at No. 1. Mako rose to prominence in 2013 with single "Beam," which received a booming remix by Dannic and was released by Revealed Recordings, soon to be enjoyed by audiences all over the world.

In 2015, Mako charted at No. 33 on U.S. Digital with "I Won't Let You Walk Away," featuring Madison Beer. In 2016, they dropped their debut LP, Hourglass, which was preceded by singles "Smoke Filled Room" and "Into the Sunset." The album, released on Ultra Records, reached No. 5 on the U.S. Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Shortly after, the duo parted ways, with Logan moving on to other pursuits.

    Acoustic EDM

by Jonny1233 on 1/27/18A and R Music Bar - Columbus

Decent show, wasn't very busy (maybe 50 people). Music was all acoustic, so violins and guitars and drums. Was a cool show, but not what I was expecting.
