About

Proving that a great show is always in fashion, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, with its starry rotating cast and compulsively entertaining subject matter, has become an international hit. This intimate collection of stories by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron is based on the best-selling book, as well as on the recollections of the Ephrons' friends. Like the popular book, the show uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories that all women can relate to, creating one of the most enduring theatergoing experiences in New York and now across the country.

Bad, Boring, and What I Snore

by ElaChicago on 2/21/12Broadway Theatre - Chicago

What a disappointment. The playhouse itself is beautiful and the stage and seating is great. Too bad that all was wasted on this show. The play was so boring, filled with ridiculous cliches and intentional tear-jerker stories made to make you feel somehow more introspective. The cast was entirely uninteresting except for maybe 1-2 memorable moments. There was so much more that could have been done with this concept...instead it was cheezy, trite, and melodramatic. The women just sat there, snooooooze. All in black...snoooooze. The cardboard cutouts/illustrations of outfits were so odd and felt like a school project. All in all, save your money.

It was not as funny as I thought it would be. Thought that there would be more to it as far as the staging of it. Some of the actresses didn't seem like they were really into the performance that evening.

The show was great! I went with some girlfriends, and we all had moments in the show that we identified with. I appreciated the stripped down presentation of the stage, allowing for the words and the performers to help us imagine the set up of each new story.

The play was very touching and insightful!! The Cast and Crew were so friendly and helpful! They came out after the play and signed autographs and took pictures!! Dawn Wells (Mary Ann from Gilligans Island who played "Gingy") was the best! Yea!!

"Love, Loss, and What I Wore"

by Frenchy53 on 1/2/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

My cousin and I attended the play. We could relate to everything discussed on a deep level. She recently loss a sister. I experienced the loss of a child, divorce, and relationship challanges. Through it all we have survived. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I really appreciated the humor. It was much needed.

    Love, Loss & Outfits

by Trish6 on 1/1/12Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

I attended this event with my sisters on Friday night...The evening started with myself and another sister whining on the phone. We each had been glancing upon an abundance of clothing in our own closets. Yet, we of course lamented we had absolutely nothing to wear tonight! I then left my home to meet up with two of my other sisters so we could drive into the city. As we drove in to the city I reached into my purse but, couldn't find my wallet. Lights went on in our car, instructions were given, and the search began! Were the Ephron's dictating the actions between myself and my sisters?! The theater performance about women and their 'accessories' is so poignant, because it simply depicts our movements through the normal stages in our lives. The actresses were very relatable to the different stages of life. Examples of; my first "Brownie Uniform, the humiliating experience of the search for the definable size 28 AA first "Bra" or the sacred moments given to the purpose/size/price/ of the ever present.......PURSE! These and so much more are described in rich dialogues and strong presentations. The actresses voice tone, body movements and timing,,,,,,,, pulled it all together. Bravo!

What a delight! Attended w two friends and we all loved this play. It captured so well what it was like growing up for us...the clothes, of course, but even more so the lines we heard from our mother's, the dilemmas we faced, the emotions we felt, and funniest of all, the subject of purses! Well acted, terrifically written, it was a real treat.

Great for the over 45 crowd

by Martinigurl on 12/30/11Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Bought these tickets for my nieces, daughter and sister in law. The show was entertaining. I laughed and cried...... My advise is.....if you are under 45 years old, dont go. My neices and daughter (who are in the 23 to 25 years old) didnt 'get' most of the stories the ladies were telling. I felt bad as that was their Christmas gift and I dont really think they enjoyed the show very much. As for my sister in law and myself...We did like the show. I was wishing my sister would have been there as she is a little older than me and I think she would have even "got "more of the stories than I did.
