About

“LOVE LETTERS CONQUERS ALL!” – NBC New York

“Under the expert direction of Gregory Mosher, Brian Dennehy, gives a sterling performance and an utterly extraordinary Mia Farrow casts a heartbreaking spell.” - The New York Times

Andrew Makepeace Ladd III wrote his first letter to Melissa Gardner to tell her she looked like a lost princess. They were both seven years old. For the next fifty years, through personal triumphs and despair, through wars and marriages and children and careers, they poured out the secrets of their hearts to each other. They defied a fate that schemed to keep them apart, and lived – through letters – for the one most meaningful thing, their undying love for each other.

See your favorite stars including Brian Dennehy, Mia Farrow, Carol Burnett, Alan Alda, Candice Bergen, Stacy Keach, Diana Rigg, Anjelica Huston, Martin Sheen and so many more brilliant talents to be announced. Directed by Gregory Mosher and written by celebrated playwright A.R. Gurney. An enduring romance about first loves and second chances comes to Broadway.

“BRIAN DENNEHY & MIA FARROW DAZZLE IN LOVE LETTERS. A beguiling and wrenching kaleidoscope of real emotions.” - Newsday

    Worth Writing Home About

by newmansbigfish on 12/18/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Beautiful performance befitting a beautiful old theatre. Bergen and Alda's performances were heartfelt, funny, and touching. So much was said with merely a table and two chairs...proof that you don't need a fancy set to have a moving and memorable Broadway experience. It made me want to run home and start letter writing.

    Love Letters

by bccbcc1 on 12/17/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Wonderful to see two professional stars in such an intimate setting. They were great. By just sitting and using the inflection in their voices and facial features, they portrayed the emotions of the characters.

Candice Bergen and Alan Alda...Need I say more?

by BroadwayGoerTucson on 12/17/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Love Letters was unique in its simplistic set, but it allowed the audience to delve into the characters and their love for each other. Staged as a "reading", Love Letters showcased two powerhouse actors who brought you into another world. Charming, sweet, and emotionally charged, this show allowed every emotion! This show will be on tour soon, and is a must-see.

Love Letters will be one of my favorites forever

by MJTeddy on 12/17/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

One of the best plays I've ever seen. Writing was fabulous. Writing was simple so you didn't expect the punch in the gut at times. So funny at times, you laughed hard out loud. It may have been the amazing well cast actors but the show was unforgettable.

Loved it! Better than I thought

by Julesterp on 12/17/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Once I heard that Alan Alda and Candice Bergman were one of the sets of actors, I knew I had to see it. They exceeded my expectations. A must see. Great for all ages and it really brings the point home about the lost art of writing letters by hand.

    Emotionally Intelligent

by MLP2D on 12/17/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Funny, sweet, sad, frustrating. Impossible to find just the right words to describe all the emotions one feels when seeing this performance. Alda and Bergen were first rate with their sometimes dry, always spot-on delivery. They were the characters in the play, not the characters they have played in other performances, movies or TV shows. And they brought life to the telling of a story through letter-writing. Witty and charming. The letters were written in the vernacular of the time, exactly the way a child, teenager, or adult would have written. First rate performance!

    Love Letters was terrific.

by Ffldprep5 on 12/17/14Brooks Atkinson Theatre - New York

Rarely can a play evoke feelings of happiness, hysteria, intrigue, warmth and sadness. Love Letters does exactly that as it moves across the spectrum of human emotions, with caring, compassion and love as its underlying emotion felt throughout the letters. Alan Alda was wonderful. But Candice Bergen stole the show. Her voice inflection and tone in reading the letters was awe-inspiring and really made you understand the feelings of her character. She made us part of her thoughts and emotions. I'm disappointed its run on Broadway ended, but recommend this play to everyone as it moves to other venues around the country. Bravo Ms. Bergen and Mr. Alda. Bravo.
