Beautiful way to kick off Christmas!!

by Stacy B on 12/26/23The Louisville Palace - Louisville

I bought tickets for my daughter (mid 20's) and mother in law (mid 60's) and was not really sure what to expect but hoped it would be all things Christmas and get us ready for the holiday! And boy, did it ever. The stage looked beautiful with the right amount of white lights and tree's and the Louisville Orchestra was amazing. The real highlight was the singing and tap dancing by the performers. What incredible talent. The show offered an intermission and start to finish was about 2.5 hours which was a little long. While the music was amazing, some of the crowd was a bit restless and it did get warm in the auditorium during and after the intermission. But overall it was wonderful and such a perfect way to kick off the Christmas festivities!

    Traffic problems in Louisville

by LindaK on 12/23/23The Louisville Palace - Louisville

I’m sure the concert was magical. Unfortunately, I did not get to attend the Louisville Orchestra performing the Christmas songs of Nat King Cole. A tanker overturned on I-64 and 264 the morning of the event, spilling 4000 gallons of gasoline, and creating a traffic nightmare in Louisville. My grandson and I could not get to the Palace in time for the concert. I’m heartbroken to have missed it and the chance to give him an opportunity to experience the music. We will try again, the next time the Louisville Orchestra is at the Palace, and hope for better luck. On a positive note, it’s my understanding no one was injured in that traffic event and the clean-up, which is a blessing. Merry Christmas 2023.

    Dissapointed

by ST on 12/23/23The Louisville Palace - Louisville

While I understand the goal was to highlight NKC’s life and works, the show was poorly written and executed. The best way to describe the experience is this: they were late opening the doors as they were practicing until the last second. It felt as if the orchestra knew what they were doing and played well, but the highlighted band members thought they needed not to practice and just read music - poorly. It did not mesh and did not resemble the classics that we all know. It was not simply artistic leeway, either. It was poorly done and disappointing. The multitudes of people leaving early and having confused looks on their faces with each passing song confirmed, it wasn’t just our group. I wish we could have heard what we came to hear - Nat King Cole’s Christmas. I will say, I’m not sure this was the orchestra’s fault - the band leader and main band seemed to be the root cause.

Too much Chris too little LO

by Steve on 9/20/23Iroquois Amphitheater - Louisville

The guest performer was over-hyped. Couldn’t decide if he was a musician or a wanna be comedic singer. His physical gyrations were silly. His singing bordered on shouting most of the time. Terribly difficult to understand what he was singing/shouting. There was no reason to have the orchestra in attendance. My purpose for purchasing tickets and attending was to be entertained by and enjoy the orchestra; not to watch a high school level performance. Teddy must owe Chris a huge favor. Star rating ought to be zero.
