About

LIZA MINNELLI IN CONCERT:

As long as Liza Minnelli continues to cast her spell over captivated concertgoers, life will remain a cabaret, ol' chum. Nearly 50 years after she made her stage debut, the Broadway legend turned Hollywood superstar remains an indefatigable performer, thrilling fans around the world with nostalgic performances of beloved classics like "New York, New York" and "Say Liza (Liza with a 'Z')." Following a string of critically acclaimed 2013 performances alongside Cabaret co-star Alan Cumming, Liza has fans busting down box office doors for tickets to her coveted 2014 tour dates, which include a lushly orchestrated appearance alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the city's iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The daughter of Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli, Liza is Hollywood royalty by birth, appearing in her first film at age three. Far from relying on her pedigree, Liza trained extensively as a child, achieving success on her own terms with her considerable talents as an actress, singer, and performer. Following several major roles in the late '60s, Liza launched to international superstardom for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in Bob Fosse's 1972 smash Cabaret, taking home the Oscar for Best Actress. A laundry list of successful films, albums, and television specials followed, cementing her role as one of the most enduring icons in American popular culture.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The show was just so Liza. She was everything you ever want to see in an artist. She pays attention to detail, tells stories, and makes it her own."

"The show was absolutely amazing. Liza still can sing , move and crack jokes as if she was 35."

"Liza with a Z is still on top of her game. At 67, her energy, vocals, humor, and pizzazz light up the stage."

    Liza with a "z".

This woman has incredible courage!! The audience totally responded to Liza for who she was and where she is in her life. perhaps her voice was a little on edge but she had not sung in over a year. Song selections were wonderful! if you love her, please treat yourself, go see, listen & enjoy.

    Liza Minnelli

Too late to see Liza Minnelli the way she should be! While her voice was O.K., she couldn't stand (sat on a stool all concert)! The event really was sad! It's time for the curtain to close on Liza touring! Go out with some dignity, Liza!

She sang for 1 1/3 hours flawlessly and it flew by in what felt like 10 minutes! I coud have listened to her all night! Thank you Liza for coming to the South first! Liza With A Seat

by Metairiecitizen on 7/27/15IP Casino Resort and Spa - Biloxi

Liza Minnelli is no stranger to the Gulf Coast, having performed in pre-Katrina Biloxi at the Beau Rivage Theatre and in New Orleans at the Mahalia Jackson and Saenger Theatres. Her early New Orleans concert at the former around 1980 was captured by HBO and features Liza at the peak of her career. Liza at the IP Hotel and Casino on July 24th was just short of miraculous, given the singer's health issues, rehab, and very limited mobility. She acknowledged to the very supportive, largely LGBT audience that she owes them her life. Certainly Liza could not have given more in this show, even if she had to remain seated for most of the 90 minutes. She had excellent support from two of her "Boys" from 2009's "Liza At The Palace": Jim Caruso and Cortes Alexander. They dueted in a tribute to Kay Thompson, Liza's godmother. Liza sang most of her repertoire of signature songs, occasionally taking breath and sips of water breaks. She proved, she clearly still owns her icon status!

    Unforgettable Liza

by BruceandLinda on 7/27/15IP Casino Resort and Spa - Biloxi

even after sharing with the audience that she had fallen prior to the show, Liza came onstage and sang her heart out. She had to remain seated for most of the show, but I was not disappointed at all. Liza was very gracious and thanked the audience for our warm reception. She is a star and I thoroughly enjoyed the show.

    Lizamania

by ACabaretGirl on 7/27/15IP Casino Resort and Spa - Biloxi

Liza's die hard fans all showed up to give her 100% of their love. Inspiring. The audience was electric before she set a foot on the stage. All remember and appreciate Liza's 30 year PRIME (1966 to 1996) in which she delivered spot, emotional, spectacular vocal performances (check 'em out on You Tube) of incredibly wonderful but insanely demanding vocal material (Cabaret, New York New York, But the World Goes Round, Maybe This Time....). Liza has been through plenty over the years (recently broke her back and has had numerous knee and hip surgeries. Importantly, she had vocal chord surgery in 1997 after Victor Victoria on Broadway, almost took her ability to sing away). But she fought back. She is now age 69. Liza got standing ovations after just about every song. Wonderful night for LIza as she saw how much her fans will always love her.

She was great! A real trooper. Although at times she seemed in pain, she carried on.
