Lighting in the Arena
by Emliute on 7/18/16Royal Farms Arena (formerly Baltimore Arena) - BaltimoreThe Stage production wasn’t pleasing to me. The festival was totally dependent on the video screen as an emcee. No one spoke live, and the audio sound was distorted from my seat. We sang the national anthems to 3 countries, without real flags in the arena. The flags were on the video screen instead. The use of LED colored lighting was a distraction and removed the ability to see faces and beautiful folk costumes. The spotlight use on only a few dancers, while the remaining dance groups in the dim darkness, was unfavorable to all dancers participating. The third part of the production was too dark to see much. Spectators had no opportunity to photograph dancers. Because of these presentation reasons, I would rate this festival as one of the least enjoyable in my lifetime.
